Kellie Pickler Is Learning to Stay Mum

Choosing your words wisely is sometimes a hard lesson to learn, and it's one Kellie Pickler is trying her best to master. The 'American Idol' alum has talked publicly in the past about hardships in her family and love life. And she says that has resulted in some awkward fan encounters.

"Random people in a grocery store will come up and tell me what I should do: 'Oh, you should have left him a long time ago.' It's weird . . . they don't know anything but a paragraph they read in the paper," says Pickler. "I have to keep my big mouth shut about anything personal."

But, old habits die hard. The 21-year-old singer broke her new rule last week on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show.' When asked about her love life, she disclosed that, against her reservations, she's dating someone in the music business.

"When I started this, I said I will never ever be in a relationship with someone in the music business," she told DeGeneres. "Cause how awful would it be for like, say you're married to some big country singer and then you get a divorce, and then you've gotta share. Then you're nominated for Album of the Year, together, and he wins, and then you're just like, 'UGH!' And you know, you're going through a divorce ... It'd just be like a conflict of interest. And so, I date a songwriter."

Something tells me we're going to keep hearing about this country starlet's relationships.

I'm not sure who this "Missy" person is, family, friend, whatever...but if she and everyone else cares about Kellie as she claims, she would not air their "Personal dirty laundry" in this very public forum...if you're that close, I'm sure you can find a different way to "talk" to Kellie....not here...just looking for attention.

it's so cool that she just won 3 cmt awards! just goes to show that not winning american idol doesn't mean that your career is over (i.e. jennifer hudson) and winning american idol doesn't guarantee a good career (i.e. ruben studdard).

Kellie really is the true meaning of Dumb Blonde. But this girl has a beautiful voice and is very talented. Although she reminds me alot of Ellie Mae Clampet.

Kelly is a class act. She shows alot of personallity along with something we dont see these days often. "HAPPY" I like Kelly cause she brings a smile to my face and anybody that cant say she does is just not honest with themselves. FOR SURE

i saw kelly in concert here in lexington ky and she rocked it out!! she was awesome alot better in person, her personality really came out, shes not stuck on herself like some of these up coming singers, shes the real deal, so cut her some slack who doesnt have skeletons in their closet.. i am glad she won an award..

Kellie Pickler is a hero in my book, her very personal story of her mother leaving her really strikes home at our house and now my own 7 yr old grand daugher doesn't feel like the only little girl without a mother thanks kellie and thanks from all the little ones who are struggling today with the void in their own young lives you give them hope we love you in florida.

I love Kellie Pickler.... She is my favorite country star at this time. I even think she is much prettier than Carrie underwood and more personable. She is a doll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
