Country music is returning to the Great White Way. A Broadway musical based on George Strait's 1992 movie, 'Pure Country,' is expected to open in New York sometime next year. The music will be composed by Steve Dorff, who co-wrote two of the biggest hits from the film, 'I Cross My Heart' and 'Heartland.' John Bettis, also a co-writer on 'Heartland,' will pen all of the lyrics. In the movie, Strait played a country music star named 'Dusty Chandler' who leaves fame and fortune to go back to his roots. There's no word yet on who will bring 'Dusty' to life on Broadway.

What happened to all the "great" country singers? Mr. Strait was about the only one at the ACMs other than Reba.
Don't get me wrong, but I was not too familiar with a lot of the singers.
George Strait is still my favorite and will always be, I know he deserved "Entertainer of the Year Award."
