George Strait Racks Record No. 1s

George Strait has yet another spot in the record books. With his new single, 'I Saw God Today,' at No. 1 on both the R&R and Billboard charts, the King of Country Music is now the only singer in any genre to have 56 No. 1 songs. But, never one to bask in his own glory, Strait continues to remain humbly grateful, in spite of his record-breaking success.

"I would just like to say thanks to all my fans out there," he says. "To have a number one record is very special, whether it's your first or one of many. 'I Saw God Today' is a beautifully written song which reaches very tender places in many people's hearts. I would like to thank Rodney Clawson, Monty Criswell, and Wade Kirby and congratulate them on the success of their efforts in writing this great song. God Bless You All."

While Strait may be quick to downplay his success, others are eager to sing his praises. Billboard magazine writes, "George Strait is one of music's most consistent hitmakers for a reason -- he knows a hit song when he hears one and he only sings it if it fits him;" while Entertainment Weekly reports, "George Strait is the most reliable record-maker and biggest one-man hit factory in any genre of music."
