John Michael Montgomery has voluntarily checked himself into a rehabilitation treatment center. A statement on the singer's website says Montgomery is seeking help for severe anxiety attacks and a sleep disorder. He has canceled all concerts and appearances for the next 30 days."I will be disappearing for a while to try and defeat the demons that have stripped me of my energy of life and good health for so many years now," Montgomery writes in a prepared statement. "I assure you that however long it may take, I'm gonna fight to the end and come out stronger."
Montgomery, known for such hits as 'Sold,' 'The Little Girl' and 'I Love the Way You Love Me,' is scheduled to release an album on his own label in September.

The heading on this article says you have checked into rehab, and the conotation is drugs and booze. You say it is because of anxiety attacks and sleeping problems whose demons have troubled you. I really hope that is true and not something the PR people cooked up. You have a mental illness and so do I and I have suffered from the same things kinda for most of my life. I am also a small time pro musician from Chicago.

Hey John,
Good luck and I pray you will be stronger than ever. My younger sister did the same thing and it took THE LOVE AND SUPPORT of her family and the GOOD LORD ABOVE. I know it can be done. I will continue to pray for you that GOD will bring you out the bad situation and You will fight it but LET GO AND LET GOD, I promise if My Sister can get out of 25 years of this you can too. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU VERY CLOSE TO HIS HEART.

John,
Being a personal victim of having anxiety and panic attacks is a horrible experience. Henry, I am booze and drug free and my anxiety experience have nothing to do with the sort. For people to judge us that do have this disorder DON'T JUDGE until you yourself have the experience. It takes along time to get a grip of it Im still fighting with it and I have had this disorder for about 8 yrs. All I can say john is learn the tools to fight this. You will use them alot! Alot of excersize! plus, a great support system from friends and family. Ones who will be there for you through this. And don't be affraid to use them. You can beat this. It does take time! I'm 36 now and almost there to overcome it. If I can do it so can you! Good Luck! And don't ever give up on yourself, beat it before it consumes everything you do in your life cause it will try if not succeed! Your long time fan. Victoria

Hey John, You can beat this, I did. I had panic attacks for years and my doctor finally prescribed a drug called Nardil. He said that I could not have a panic attack while taking this medication. I don't know if it was the meds or the power of suggestion but I never had another panic attack.
I got real close many times but never crossed over to a full blown attack. I now take a maintenance dose of Klonopin to control anxiety. It took lots of prayer but I'm ok now. You can do this!!!! God bless.

ACTUALLY THOSE OF US WHO HAVE FOLLOWED HIM, AND THE SONG HE WROTE AND A HIT OF AFTERWARDS, IS WHEN HIS FATHER DIED. REMEMBER, B/F THAT, HE WAS "CLIMBING THE LADDER". I SAW HIM TWICE IN CONCERT, BEFORE HIS FATHER'S PASSING AND HE COULDVE BEEN, AND MAY AGAIN BE, THE NEXT TIM MCGRAW.

I did a double take when I read your title. You made it sound like our "all american boy" had a drug or alcohol problem. I wish him all the best.

Just breathe. You have it tough right now, and I commend you for seeking help and not being so stubborn as to try to suffer through it on your own any longer. You have always been my favorite, when you sing, I feel like the songs you sing were written for me, silly, I know, but that's what makes you so unique. My prayers are with you, and your family. Hope to see a new and improved you soon.
