Label-mates Taylor Swift and Jack Ingram took Top New Vocalist honors at Sunday's ACM Awards. Swift brought many in the audience to tears with her touching acceptance speech."There are so many people to thank for this, but I'm just gonna thank one. And that's the person who used to love to go to lunch with her friends, and cook dinner for her family and sleep in her own bed every night. But she left all that to go on the road with her 16-year-old daughter . . . Mom, thank you so much. I love you."
Ingram's acceptance speech was just as heartfelt. The Texas crooner, who has been making music for more than 15 years, spoke about never throwing in the towel.
"For anybody that's ever come to see me play, for anybody who played my songs on the radio, for anybody that's ever taken something from the words of one of my songs, anybody who dared to dream big dreams and high hopes with me, know this -- live it, own it. Dreams come true, never give up."
Lady Antebellum took home honors for Top New Vocal Group. The trio was nominated before their debut album even came out! That was a good call by the Academy, as the self-titled CD ended up debuting at No. 1.
