LeAnn Rimes Defends Her Sexy Image

LeAnn Rimes wants her critics to understand that she is an adult. The singer who burst onto the country music scene as a fresh-faced 13-year-old has no regrets for shedding her girl-next-door image.

"I was always America's sweetheart, but you grow up, you get married, you have sex, my God!" she tells the LA Times. "I work out a lot, I take care of myself and I like showing it off in a way that's fun."

The now 25-year-old Rimes has been showing off her svelte figure a lot lately. She strips down to her skivvies in her 'Nothin' Better to Do' video and rolls around on a bed clad in lingerie in 'Til We Ain't Strangers Anymore,' her steamy video with Bon Jovi. The singer has also graced recent covers of Shape and Fitness magazines wearing a bikini.

Rimes expresses sympathy for teen stars like Miley Cyrus who are criticized for their own sometimes sexy images. When asked about the controversy surrounding Cyrus' Vanity Fair cover shoot, the former child star advises Cyrus to rise above the criticism.

"The sad thing is when you're in their position, everyone at some point is going to bring you down," Rimes says. "This is where they're going to show how strong they are . . . They have to keep their heads down and not listen."

When all other explanations fail, never rule out sheer stupidity with some people and what they do. But, what do I know - who am I to judge? We are ALL entitled to our opinions about this. Me? I beleive in "finishing what I started!" Today I finished off 10 cookies, 2 pieces of cake and I feel better already.....peace

Ah some of you people CANNOT BE SERIOUS!! Look at Shania Twang who can't sing for crap & relies on her boobs & bootie hanging out, LeeAnn at least has talent and is being creative with what she's doing. She doesn't have to depend on T and A to get notice, unlike Ms. Thang mentioned above who is getting older and gonna find it difficult to get attention in a couple of years. So LeeAnn wants to have a little fun, good for her...I didn't see anything over the top sexy in those videos.

Growing up includes understanding that while self-expression and feeling good about yourself is fine, it is unfortunate that she has chosen to sell a "sexy image" more than her awesome talent. She has a right to make her own choices and be who she wants, but THIS choice in my opinion undermines and detracts from her God given talent. Sex "sells" and invites attention? Sadly yes. Her talent is so immense...Too bad she has bought into this...

I like LeAnn and think she's a great singer and performer, but I disagree with her supporting Miley Cyrus. Miley is too young and popular with her very young fans to be promoting this Lolita-ish or sirenish image and doing the things she's been doing in private getting out in the press, she needs to chill and wait till she is legal.
As far as LeAnn, she is almost thirty and has a right to promote herself anyway she wants, and if this is the image she wants to use to get attention, so be it. I don't think it's controversial at all, quite mild actually, but I guess in country land it seems scandalous. Pretty amusing.

LeAnn: One of the worst things an entertainer can do is to totally change one's image. She has skyrocketed to the top by being who she is: cute, wholesome, good image, and possessed with a fabulous talent. You ain't broke, LeAnn, and you don't need fixin. Stay true to yourself. Britney Spears early on in her career stated that she wanted to be a good example to young girls and keep herself pure for marriage. Well, she jumped the track and has just about destroyed herself. There is a real lesson to be learned here.
