Billy Ray Cyrus has broken his silence about his daughter's magazine photo shoot scandal. Cyrus tells Starpulse that Miley's positive attitude will help her rise above it."The thing you got to look at in life, whether you're an entertainer or whether you're a farmer . . . whatever you do in life, there's going to be peaks and valleys," he said. "I think one of the things my dad taught me and hopefully I instilled in Miley, is that when you get knocked down, you've got to get back up because it's not going to do any good to lie on the ground and cry about it. I think she has a lot to be proud of. I think the positive far outweighs the negative."
In a move she says she now realizes was a mistake, Miley was featured on the cover of Vanity Fair wearing nothing but a sheet covering the front of her body, with her bare back facing the camera. The teen superstar faced more scandal last month when provocative pictures of her in her underwear were leaked online.

theres pictures of 12 year olds in there underwear all over myspace and no one says anything. so what? she took a couple of pictures. its not like shes showing any nudity. you need to get over it and find something better to do with your time.

People do say things about those girls. We call those girls sluts. The difference between them and Miley Cyrus is that those girls aren't role models to young, impressionable girls. Miley Cyrus is. She needs to take the responsibilities that come with fame.

Personally I've never liked Miley. She can't sing, in my own opinon she's not very pretty, and if her career goes down the tubes it's her own fault for not having good judement.

yes it was bad judgment on both miley and her parent's but come on get over it. when vanessa hudgens from high school musical had nude pictures on the web more than once people just forgot about it. i mean don't they even have an upcoming movie. miley has done far more significant things in her career that had good outcomes. yes she is a role model for young girls and i am not gonna go to my 8 year old daughter and say look what this little fluzy did. no she still likes hannah/miley. and it's the singing and the show that i keep her into not all the bad news and publicity and if any of you mothers go out and tell your daughters, who knows you may be setting them on that path early on because they remember things very well. let miley get on with her terrific career i am sure she will not make the same mistake. but to just destroy her career over this would be a shame and down right mean

I think people should just leave her alone. How many of us have done stupid stuff when we were young. Its all a learning experiance. I'm sorry she is young and shouldn't be considered a role model even if she is on TV. We as parents need to instil the values we believe to our kids never use celebrites as role modles. They are human and yes do make mistakes just like anyone else.

Miley is a great girl. i don't really like her music, but that's only because i don't usually like her genre. i love the show, and i really like her as a person. she's apologized. she knows what she did was wrong, and she obviously regrets it. all of you that hate her for this are ridiculous. she's famous, you know, it probably just got to her head without her really realizing what she was about to do. i know i would have trouble with that if i was as big of a deal as she is. so just leave her alone. she's a good role model, and all you immature retards that keep saying how awful she is, obviously don't know what a good role model is. so just shut up and stop being so stupid.

I personally love Miley. I just don't see why she never gets cut any slack. I mean seriously, all the picture showed was her back. Wow. Would it have been any different if she was wearing a bikini at the beach?? Well if she was wearing a bikini at the beach, she would probably get bashed for another "scandal!" I mean come on! And if you and I wore a bikini to the beach everything would be perfectly fine. Miley is a human, and humans make mistakes. Just because she's famous doesn't mean she's perfect. I'm only 12 and I know people who do worse stuff than this. And sure, I wouldn't have taken a picture like this. Miley is my role model, but that doesn't mean I have to copy every mistake she's made...I can LEARN from them.

I will admit that the Vanity Fair shoot was a mistake, and much of the blame can be put onto her parents and the photographer. But what about the other bunch of racey Miley pics that she took ON HER OWN? Where her bra is showing, where she's sprawled across her bf's lap with her top pulled up, where she's lifting her shirt with her teeth, where her bra is showing (AGAIN!), where she's being innapropriate with her FEMALE friend, and the other bazillion underwear pics??? hm? No one is apologizing for those. I think THOSE are a much bigger deal than the vanity fair ones.
