Shania Twain has posted a letter to fans on her website, opening up about her "broken heart." The notoriously private star doesn't reveal the reason behind her split from husband Robert "Mutt" Lange, but she does reveal her deep pain."As I am sure you have seen or heard; I am going through a rough time personally in my life," she writes. "I wanted you all to know that I could not be getting through this without you. Your letters, emails and words of encouragement give me strength. Your overwhelming support reminds me to smile, no matter how deep the pain and to always be grateful for all the beautiful blessings in my life."
Twain and Lange announced their separation last month, after 14 years of marriage. Sources close to the couple told PEOPLE magazine that Lange is having an affair with a close family friend, Marie-Anne Thiébaud. Both Lange and Thiébaud deny the allegations.
"I have so much to say but I know the best way for me to speak is through my music," continues Twain on her website. "This is my therapy, my passion, and my love. I look forward to sharing it with all of you as I begin this new journey. I need some time to heal this broken heart but make no mistake; I will be back and hopefully stronger than ever. Thank you my friends, from the bottom of my heart."

Shania, I love every song you sing. I have every video and tape you have ever made and 3 of your concert tours and I watch them daily. You inspire me and I'm Praying for you daily and your heartbreak. Your son will get you through all of this. Shania has made her husband a fortune and according to most around her, reportedly has been totally devoted to him. And this is what she gets in return? I vote Mutt the Pinhead of the year...hope he feels proud and happy when he looks in the mirror....

to the gnetleman Denny who wrote that shania made her husband a fortune excuse me denny but, you must check your facts on her husbands he has way more money than shania in fact he's the one that fronted the money to get her career started. he is a most popular songwriter and producer in his own right don't going feeling to sorry for her. she's chosen (being such the private person she is ha!) to tell of her misery. we don't know as the public what really happened everyone needs to remember she got caught in a very very large lie about 10 years ago so don't shed to many tears over her.

Of course the guilty parties are denying "any involvement" with each other. It's always the people closest to you that stab you in the back. In this case Shania, although you've been cheated on, by the ones who supposedly loved you the most, you will be the one who comes out of this with your integrity. You are still the one and I wish you and your son all the best and my prayers are with you as you go through this difficult time!

What very large lie did Shania get caught in 10 years ago? She must have read something they wrote to each other or caught them in compromising circumstances for her to feel this strongly about it all. I wonder if we will ever really know.

Your husband has got to be the dumbest man in the world. Aside from your beautiful music, you are the most beautiful woman in the world. From what pictures I've seen of your husband he is not that good of a looker, and on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate him a 1 or maybe a 2 on his best days. So, what was it about him that broke your heart. You should be happy that he's gone and just say good riddence to bad rubbish. You can have any man in the world you want including me and I know I'm 10 times better looking than he is.

I was really sorry to hear about your split with your husband, Mutt. I have been in your "boots" so, I know first hand the pain you are living, and it really does "hurt when you breathe".
You are a very strong and wise person, and the best thing you are doing right now to heal, is exactly what you are doing.
I am older than you, but, we share some similarities in our hardscrabble lives, and our looks, except that I'm almost six-feet tall.
As a Christian, I pray for you and have all confidence that you will come through this, and continue to use the gift of music and inspire people to the best ideals - while not glossing over the pain - in life.
You are not only an ispiriation to me, but an example of what a real woman of nobility and dignity is, and to countless others!
