Montgomery Gentry Throw Jabs at Brooks and Dunn

Montgomery Gentry are enjoying some friendly rivalry with Brooks and Dunn. While the former duo recently celebrated a No. 1 single with 'Back When I Knew It All,' the latter's new song, 'Put A Girl In It,' just passed Montgomery Gentry's latest hit on the Billboard singles chart. Brooks and Dunn are also the reigning ACM Duo of the Year, beating out Montgomery Gentry every year since 2000. So do Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry feel any animosity toward Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn?

"As far as Ronnie and Kix go, I don't know if you could even talk to them during an interview," Gentry jokes to CMT. "Of course, I'm sure they've got them loud ringers on their phones and their hearing aids turned up. I'm sure they could use their walkers to get to the phone."

All joking aside, the guys from Montgomery Gentry clearly respect their elders.

"Naah, we love Ronnie and Kix," Gentry continues. "We were on tour with them. We rag them all the time, and they rag us. They're legends, man. Ronnie has probably got one of the best country voices you'll ever hear in your life."

Montgomery Gentry is now on tour in support of their new album, 'Back When I Knew It All.' The CD features writing credits by several big-name tunesmiths, including Trent Willmon, Brett James and Terri Clark, as well as guest vocals by tourmate Toby Keith on 'I Pick My Parties,' which was penned by Clark.

"We heard that song, and T (Troy) was like, 'You know, man, it just seems like there ought to be somebody else on it,'" Montgomery explains. "So we said, 'Hell, we're going to be on a tour with Toby. Let's see if Toby will do it.' And, man, what a perfect match!"
