Toby Keith and Dixie Chicks Not Ready to Make Nice After All

Although Toby Keith and the Dixie Chicks had agreed to appear in a TV commercial together for the Alliance for Climate Protection, Toby Keith now says it looks like it won't happen, placing the blame on egos and scheduling problems.

"I agreed to do it," Keith told the San Jose Mercury News. "The two dates that I had available to go do it, they couldn't work out. Then we agreed to a third date, and they said the Chicks wasn't going to do it, so now it's gotten to where it's probably not going to happen."

The Alliance for Climate Protection, championed by former Vice President Al Gore, has inspired other unlikely pairings, including Democrat Nancy Pelosi and Republican Newt Gingrich, and the Reverend Al Sharpton appearing with the Reverend Pat Robertson. Gore's goal is to prove that climate change is not a partisan issue.

"It's hard to get people that don't get along to agree when all those egos and stuff are involved," Keith explains of the seemingly ill-fated collaboration.

Keith and Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines began trading jabs after the release of Keith's 'Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue,' which she characterized as making country music sound "ignorant." Keith's response was to call Maines a "lousy songwriter," and the feud was off and running. To this day, Toby Keith and the Dixie Chicks have never officially met or spoken to one another.

"When somebody starts criticizing your music and starts calling you names, and you're just getting hammered, finally you respond," says Keith. "As soon as I did, everybody acted like I started the thing. But you know, I don't care. I'm not going to change my deal."

I've always been a big fan of the music of both Toby Keith and the Dixie Chicks, but I can't believe they've both been taken in by the global warming scam. Gore is a hypocrit that lives in a huge energy guzzling mansion, then tries to tell everyone else how to live. Toby and the Dixie Chicks both need to do some research on global warming. Hey Martha, Toby didn't go to Vietnam because he was born in 1961. He was about 12 when it ended. I hope that clears things up for you. GO TOBY GO!

Okay, first off, everybody is wrong, including Toby and the Dixie Chicks.
One, while Toby probably intentionally wrote the song Courtesy of the Red White and Blue to help raise the country's morale, in the end it made him millions and he ended up exploiting 9/11.
The Dixie Chicks are wrong by not choosing the proper time to voice their opinions.

HOWEVER, everyone has the right to voice their opinions.. People should get the facts straight though. So, the Dixie Chicks are ashamed of the president, as we all should be. If you're not you've lived in a cave for the last eight years.

People are always exploiting 9/11 and always will be. Look at the new commemorative 9/11 dollar. Our economy is a s---hole. If you're going to be criticizing anyone, it should be the government, not the people singing about patriotism or whatever.
If you want to listen to music and actually learn something, listen to Immortal Technique's songs The Point of No Return, Fourth Branch and Freedom of Speech.

Well, everyone found out how America responded to the Dixie Chicks! How many radio stations had to stop playing their music due to listener requests???
My question is........Toby, why in the world would you be representing "The Alliance for Climate Protection"? This is the biggest bunch of BS ever---people need to investigate who is really behind this "save the planet" BS.....our country is the most "environment conscience" country on the planet. Toby, start tuning in to El Rushbo once in a while! He is the "president of concervatism at EIB university" and his fact finding team is remarkable!! The fact is that our planet is fine! These "save the earth" wierd-o's are all part of the largest religious cult and their mission is "socialism......communism....." Come on Toby, please don't get sucked into this...its a hoax set out to destroy our country!!

One of our greatest freedoms is the right to free speach and Natalie has a right to her's, however, there is a time and a place for everything. Concerts in other world Nations is not the place to condem our country, president, or someone's patriotism. The best part is that Natalie and the Dixie Chicks are getting what they deserve....their music careers are not going so well, many radio stations don't play them at all. They need to remember who and what the represent every time they step on stage.....after all, it's us rednecks, Toby included, that gave them the opportunity to showcase their talents in the first place. Bless Toby for being who he is...a patriot, an American, and a supporter of our troops.

And one last thing to add to my previous comment: Just because Natalie Maines disagreed with the President, it doesn't mean that she wasn't effected by the attacks on 9/11. Her comments had nothing to do with the tragedy. Nor did she "down her country". The beauty of a democracy is that one person isn't the whole country. He's just one person.

I agree the chicks have the right to say what they want and i have the right to refuse to listen to anything they say. When you down my country you down me and that i can't handle, so the chicks can go to HELL.. And Toby can sing to me anytime.

I really like both atists...and I think this fued should be stopped....But has any one stopped to think that Toby (and I am not jabbing him) DID NOT go to war during VietNam? He chose to hit the oil fields instesd. Was he a draft dodger? Or just plain just didn't want to go? Then all of a sudden he becomes SO patriotic, sounds fishy to me...but like I said I love his music, as well as "The Chicks" especially the one they sing about the soldier coming home...Reminds me of my soldier soming home from NAM. HE made it home safe, thank GOD.
