Jessica Simpson Clears Rumors of Feud With Carrie Underwood

Jessica Simpson often cites legends like Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton as her musical heroes. But who among the newer country artists really impresses her these days? The Boot got a rather surprising answer when we posed that question to the pop turned country star.

"I think it's impressive how many No. 1s Carrie Underwood has," Simpson told us, with a nervous laugh. "Her choice in songs is really great, and she has an incredible voice. As far as new people, she has one of the strongest voices out there."

So what about this supposed rivalry between the two songbirds?

"It's definitely media-driven. People are just trying to make a story out of nothing," Simpson insists. "I respect her and hopefully she respects me. We've just dated the same guy -- that's it!"

That guy is Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who was briefly linked to Underwood last year. Romo is now in a serious relationship with Simpson. But Underwood recently told Allure magazine that he still calls her.

"I don't understand why she would say that," Simpson recently told a San Francisco radio station. "I respect Carrie, and I would never say anything like that."

With all the time she's spending in Nashville these days, Simpson is bound to run into Underwood around town. So would she walk up to her media-deemed nemesis and give her a hug?

"Um ... I would definitely stop and say, 'Hi,'" Simpson answered The Boot.

Simpson is hoping to take the spotlight away from the tabloid nonsense and focus it back on the music with her new country CD, 'Do You Know.' The Boot talked to her about her favorite songs on the album, including the very sexy title track, written by Dolly Parton. Read our exclusive interview here.

Carrie puts Jessica to shame in many ways! Carrie is talented, beautiful, & classy; where Jessica NOT!

Hmm...how does Tony Romo take Jessica serious? She's extremely dumb and Carrie is just so much more beautiful, no wonder he's still calling her. Jessica's country song that they released "come on over" which I believe is a cover song, sucks to the 10th degree. She yells, she does not sing. Her pop songs were better because it calls for that type of voice. I don't know, anyone who talks the way she does and has a father who knows her breast size and oogles over her when she is half naked scrubbing a car down is someone I would think Tony would stay far away from. Well to each his own. I don't wish her bad Karma or anything with regards to her career, but if I were her I would fire my father and look for someone who isn't so personally invested. Afterall, look what he's done for Ashlee and Ryan Cabreara's careers YIKES!

so what is jessica calling carrie a liar?
i highly doubt carrie underwood would actually sit there and make up some stupid lie, saying tony romo still calls her.
and how about jessica simpson wearing that stupid "real girls eat meat" shirt?
i mean come on now. she tries to play little ms. innocent, but she's really sneaky and mean.
oh and politicalright, jessica simpson did not make it on her own.
her dad did everything for her so that, even though her voice sounds like a bird getting stabbed to death, she can still make records and sell shitty albums.
has anyone heard her new song, "come on over"?
pathetic. simpson isn't strong vocally at all.
bottom line. jessica simpson can't even hold a candle to carrie underwood.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that Carrie is clearly the more talented than the two. Abundantly clear!

Carrie comes off as so much more of a classy and real lady than Jessica... I haven't been a fan of JS since she told her very dreamily handsome, ex-husband, Nick, via text message that she wanted a divorce. Not very classy...is that?

update: check out an interview from Nashville's 107.5 FM jessica did after saying this!! she stated in that interview that she "knows its not true" regarding tony calling carrie.

how sad that jessica is saying carrie is a liar to save face for herself. jessica doesn't want to make herself look bad so she says she KNOWS that it is "not true". well, unless she has 100% proof (which she plainly just can't because what if he called from someone elses phone, etc.) how can she possibly call carrie a liar?

don't call someone a liar when you really don't know the truth yourself. jessica simply CANNOT KNOW if this statement from carrie is true or not, so where does she get off calling carrie a liar and allowing her to get bad press for this? sad that jessica AND tony would let carrie take the fall for this. SO SAD!! i have no respect for jessica simpson.

If you all would take the time to do some research instead of just gobbling up everything that is handed to you, at no time did Carrie clearly state that Tony calls her. When reading the article, she IMPLIED that IF he calls, she might not answer. For whatever reason - maybe to cause dissension??? - the media has jumped on that and twisted it to make it seem like she said that...

No one, not even good ole Jess, has been smart enough to call the media out on their evident twist and most of you have just jumped on the bandwagon....

I'm neither a Jessica Simpson (she can't sing) or Carrie Underwood (she's a "made-up" star), but I am a true fan of TRUTH and am tired of seeing the media get away with their twisting of things to suit their agenda. If we would be more apt to research things before we join in the bashing, the media might think twice about posting the lies.

Alas, this generation has been called the "I WANT IT NOW" generation and your continued refusal to think for ourselves is proving that statement to be correct every day. And they thought "GENERATION X" was bad...sheesh....

ROMO SHOULD START WORRYING MORE ABOUT QB-ING THE
COWBOYS !!!! LAST YEAR WHEN THE OFFENSE WAS
FLOUNDERING HE CHOSE TO GO TO CABO WITH JESSICA
RATHER THAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE PLAYOFF BYE WEEK
AND GET THE OFFENSE IN GEAR....RESULT THEY LOOSE
TO THE GIANTS. HE HAS TO LEARN THE MEANING OF
COMMITMENT BEFORE HE CAN EVEN BE MENTIONED IN THE
SAME SENTENCE WITH TROY AIKMAN, DANNY WHITE OR
ROGER STAUBACH.
