Obama Votes for Brooks and Dunn

Brooks and Dunn's 'Only in America' blasted over the loudspeakers Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention after Barack Obama concluded his history-making speech, accepting the Democratic nomination for president. Despite the nonpartisan, patriotic message of the hit country song, some may find it a bit of a surprising choice for Senator Obama. That's because the same song was used in President George W. Bush's 2004 re-election campaign. Brooks and Dunn were also supporters of the president, performing at a Republican rally the night before the 2004 election.

Still, the song was a natural fit to conclude Obama's speech, given its patriotic "dreams come true" message. Furthermore, it was co-written by Don Cook, a co-founder of an organization called the Music Row Democrats. And it's important to note that neither Brooks nor Dunn have come forward with their political preference for 2008.
