Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood Songs Up for Auction

Want to own a piece of Garth Brooks' signature song, 'Friends in Low Places'? Or, hey, hey, how about the theme song from 'The Monkees' TV show? Beginning October 4, you can do just that.

From October 4-18, 2008, the Wisconsin-based Web company SongVest is auctioning off a percentage of the writer's share of country songs made famous by Garth, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, Trisha Yearwood, and Randy Travis. Also up for auction are pop-rock tunes by Aerosmith, Ringo Starr, Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, and Bon Jovi.

The highest bidder will own a share of the rights, including a portion of the song's royalties, generated every time the tune gets played, plus a one-of-a-kind gold or platinum record with handwritten lyrics, and other memorabilia.

You'd better be prepared to pony up some serious coin, however. According to the Wall Street Journal some titles could fetch as much as $250,000.
