"In North Carolina, way back in the hills/Me and my old pappy had a hand in a still/We brewed white lightning till the sun went down/Then he'd fill him a jug and he'd pass it around"--'White Lightning,' George Jones (1959)
"In North Carolina, way back in the hills/Me and my old pappy had a hand in a still/We brewed white lightning till the sun went down/Then he'd fill him a jug and he'd pass it around"The lyric here is wrong. It should be `...lived my old Pappy and he had him a still.`
If you are going to write for CMT, learn a little about country music. This is not some obscure song, but one of the essential country songs of all time.
This is most definently the best drinkin song in the world! It should be number one... No one can do it like George!
