Although Curb Records released Tim McGraw's third greatest hits package last week, McGraw wants fans to know he had nothing to do with the collection, and he's unhappy about its release."I am saddened and disappointed that my label chose to put out another hits album instead of new music," McGraw said in a statement released Tuesday.
McGraw has been working on a new studio album for more than a year, and he debuted three new songs on this year's Live Your Voice Tour. While it was his desire to have a new record out this fall, Curb decided instead to release a collection of hits, thereby extending McGraw's recording contract term.
"I've only had one studio album since my last hits package. It has to be just as confusing to the fans as it is to me," writes the country superstar. "I had no involvement in the creation or presentation of this record. Sure, I love the songs and I don't want to take anything away from all the creative people who were a part of making those records. But the whole concept is an embarrassment to me as an artist. In the spirit of an election year, I would simply say to my fans 'I'm Tim McGraw and I don't approve their message.'"
Curb Records Executive Vice President and General Manager Dennis Hannon insists McGraw was not in the dark about the album's release. He says he had "numerous conversations" with the country singer's representatives about "all aspects" of McGraw's 'Greatest Hits 3.'

Is this all Tim McGraw does any more is cry and moan about everythang? He always has somethin' to say about a bunch of nothin'....His music stinks to high heaven to begin with....So why cry about Curb records put out another so called Greatest hits...His Greatest hits were when he first started singin'.....Then he turned to singin' a bunch of mess.

Neal, you're a jackass...Tim has every right to be upset over this, as we the fans had to pay 8-10.00 for only 2 new songs. The others were on his previous albums. I will always be a loyal Tim fan.

I wouldn't give you a cent for his new music....I will give him credit for the earlier cd's he has put out...Now he can keep his junk music...Why do ya thank his wife aint singin' anymore??? Country music was just a steppin' stone to her "POP" days that didn't work out so well either.

Maybe now we know why Toby Keith and others have started their own labels. If you like a singers music or not you need to remember that the music is like their child. Kat

I'm pretty sure Tim is still taking his share of money from the sales of this cd. If he really wanted nothing to do with it, he should donate all the money raised from the sale of this cd to charity.

I'd be pissed too. It looks kinda lazy to just keep putting out Greatest Hits albums. At least that's what I would assume-they dont feel like makin new songs so they keep puttin out hits-and I think he has a right to be mad. He was workin on a new album, then they went ahead and released a buncha crap that's probably still gettin hella play on the radio!

Maybe they were just being polite instead of telling him the new music sucks! They knew that the old stuff would sell better than the new stuff, it's thier job to make as much as possible off an album. It's all about what makes the most money. Smart thing would have been to tell them to stick it, let his contract expire, then taken his talent elsewhere. Sounds like they just wanted to lock him into a new contract.

Tim McGraw has stunk since "Live Like You Were Dying". If he didn't do another greatest hits, there would be another crappy duet with his wife, Faith Hill. His music has gone down hill and all that's left are his hits. He used to be the rebel, now he is a sell-out.

If Tim McGraw's music "stinks", you must be tone deaf!
I can understand his being upset and I can't wait until his new songs are released.
But heck, if he's got enough GREATEST HITS for THREE releases, then thank God there are people out there who can appreciate a fantastic voice when they hear one!

I think those that don't know how the music business really works need to shut their mouths! Don't jump on Tim for this and start talking about how much money he will still make. You have NO idea. Go to your local Barnes and Nobel and get a book about how the music business works then kindly shove your foot in your mouth for speaking!
