Jon Bon Jovi, a longtime Democratic supporter, has recently joined the list of songwriters and artists upset by the use of their songs for the opposing political party. "We are surprised to hear that our song, 'Who Says You Can't Go Home' was used by the McCain campaign at rallies yesterday and today," Bon Jovi writes in a statement to TMZ. "We wrote this song as a thank you to those who have supported us over the past twenty-five years. The song has since become a banner for our home state of New Jersey and the defacto theme song for our partnerships around the country to build homes and rebuild communities. Although we were not asked, we do not approve of their use of 'Home.'"
The song was also recorded as a duet with Sugarland, who joined Bon Jovi in performing at this year's Democratic National Convention. Jon Bon Jovi also opened his home recently for a fundraising dinner for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama. He joins Heart, Jackson Browne, John Mellencamp and the Foo Fighters in expressing his anger over John McCain's use of their songs for his campaign.

Like it's such a big deal - there are so many more important things going on - get over it and be glad some people who have never heard of it liked it and may go buy the cd - why is it no one complains when Obama uses a song - so if Bon Jovi was a Reuplican would he still be mad - who cares

I agree, these democrats are out of control. They have become mean spirited. They have no respect for our Democracy as they condone voter fraud. Unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!

I am so sick of these celebrities and their support for the democrats. They can support who they want, but don't need to use their clout for it. we are the ones who gave them what they have and its not right of them to use it to down the republicans with it or anyone else for that matter. They would be no where without their fans and they need to remember that!!! As for Bon Jovi and his song, big deal, its just a song, he'll get over it. Or at least he needs to

To tell you the truth Cherr, although I don't remember the title or artist there has been ONE complaint over Obama's unauthorized use of a song. Apparently Obama seems to have more respect for musicians and copyrighted songs than do Republicans.

wouldn't have bothered him if Obama had used it. the socialites of this country need a dose of reality! They spend most of their time crying over who has hurt them and the rest trying to figure out who owes them something. This includes ball players and politicians alike. The peopls who make up the core of America need to quit givig them the time of day and maybe they will grow up. America has bigger problems than whinig about who used their song, and it goes to prove that their really not concerned about the welfare of our country.

Um... the thing with libs in show business is they forget that some, if not allot, of their money comes from Conservatives. Just in case they haven't noticed we enjoy music and movies too! They should shut their pie holes and enjoy the fame they do enjoy. Which is why every time a lib opens his or her mouth in favor of the dems they no longer get my money and believe me I have accrued a long list. If they want to keep their opinion and views to themselves and how they "vote" they still get my support. Take case in point Matt Damon. Until he open his mouth and inserted his foot I gave him benefit of the doubt and continued to support his movies because I enjoyed them and he did seem very level headed about the whole thing. Now he won't ever get another dime from me as far as movies go. The boss is another. I grew up listening to the Boss and his music. However, since he has gone on a crusade against conservatives he no longer gets my money in the form of albums or concert tickets but they are libs so they just don't get it. That is the only way to make them feel some pain is in the pocket book. If Bon Jovi feel that way the hey I guess he just made my list too! Oh and I'm not rank and file like the dems meaning I'm conservative and not a republican so they just don't just get my vote by default either. As far as I can tell they haven't done anything lately to deserver it.

You are an idiot!!! Their (celebs) money in no way comes from conservatives! You republicans are soooo uneducated!

Venus61 - why do you resort to name calling? That does not prove you are educated, in fact, it only convinces me of the opposite. I am a conservative and I have bought almost every single Bon Jovi album. So yes, he does get money from conservatives. Although, he won't receive any more of my money. And, by the way, I am probably more educated than you!

All these "stars" who the heck made them ??We the people-we spent our hard earned money on their music, movies, ballgames etc-and this is how they repay us>by whining and boo hooing every time something doesnt go the way they want-i too quit supporting them-i dont think they are appreciative of all we did for them-i am SO glad to see my favorite CHUCK NORRIS standing up tho and realizing that things are rotten in the henhouse-and making a stand for our country and the people who are in it-i will go buy his book! These candy a$$ stars are whiners and just want us to give more money -if we quit buying the things they want to make money on maybe they will get the message-but i doubt it most are too self centered to "GET IT"-but we can hurt them in the pocket book and quit supportig their lavish spoiled a$$ lifestyles

It's an image thing. Just like you conservatives writing in wouldn't want your faces on Obama's campaign because you don't support him, this band doesn't want its work associated with someone they clearly don't support. And just as knowing John Bon Jovi's a liberal has prompted you to stop supporting his work, some liberals, hearing his music on McCain's campaign, may have decided to stop supporting him because he was appearing to support a conservative. And it's possible no one complains about Obama's campaign songs because he actually asks artists' permission. McCain and his negative campaign would do well to take a page from that book.
Mainiac65at 10-17-2008
Every "artist" who has complained about the McCain campaign using their songs has offered those songs for licensing. McCain's people paid the fees and are well within their rights to use the songs how they see fit.
Maybe the "artists" should stop blindly selling their songs if they don't want them used.

Oh please...All you concertives like country music. Nothing wrong with that, but please don't pretend that the religious right wing whack jobs like rock music.
leo1113at 10-22-2008
Mainiac65 you should know better than to confuse a liberal with the facts. I am registered Democrat, but consider myself conservative. I also listen to Van Halen, The Who, ZZ Top, etc., but not Springsteen or John Cougar (as he started his career)because of their political BS. Besides, if John Mellencamp was so set in his conviction, why did he change his name to John Cougar to sell albums?
