Lorrie Morgan has filed for bankruptcy, listing her debts at between $1 - $10 million. The 49-year-old singer of such hits as 'Except for Monday' and 'What Part of No' has released a statement calling the bankruptcy simply a "part of the restructuring of my business.""It's very important to me that my fans and business associates understand that I'm OK," she writes. "Today's economic times have affected many American families and businesses. I, along with many of you, am not immune to this fact. I would appreciate the courtesy of my friends and fans respecting my privacy regarding this matter."
This isn't Morgan's first time filing for bankruptcy. In 1992, she filed and then withdrew a petition after paying her creditors more than $846,000 in debts. Her ex-husband, fellow country singer Sammy Kershaw, also filed for bankruptcy last year.

This is a woman of talent and beauty. Hope she gets to hold her head high again. This will work out one way or the other if she can get some work.
Wishing her good luck.

Amen! That's the bottom line. Living beyond your means!

Unless you have been in that position, you do not understand. Some of us have to use credit to get by everyday life, I even work three jobs and still have to use credit. You have no right to judge someone else. Someday you may find yourself in the same situation.

ordinary working folks like us do not have the luxury of having the government ( meaning us ) bail them out. In fact, George Bush made filing bankrupcy much more expensive and cumbersome via his " credit reform act ". Was this a good idea ? Perhaps but the truly needy cannot even afford the filing fees anymore. Thanks, george. Wall Street loves you, too.

We, too, had to file after my husband's bout with liver cancer. We weren't living off others or above our means, merely paddling as hard as we could to keep our heads above water. We shop at thrift stores for our clothes and don't eat out, so get off your high horse and don't judge others when you haven't walked a mile (or an inch) in their shoes.

Amen. Morgan is filing for the SECOND time. One time, you figure anyone can make mistakes that leads to bankruptcy. A SECOND time??? No. Then it's just stealing from your creditors.

I feel sorry for anyone these days, but after Keith Whitley died, Lorrie Morgan went through husbands Like water..no one was good enough. Losing Keith did something to her brain. Her head swelled(BIG-HEAD).

Who's bed has your boots been under?

She left him (K.W.) well before he died.
Amberat 10-31-2008
No, Lorrie and Keith were together when he passed.
Thats not the point....one bankruptcy allowed, two I believe you are taking advantage of the system. I like her as an artist but many stars will blow through their money without a care in the world because they have it...look at Ed McMahon. All this bailout mess is a crock of you know what.

Lorrie Morgan wants her privacy regarding filing bankruptcy, but she doesn't get that her fans and the American people are paying for her overspending!! This makes me mad. When are people going to be responsible for their own actions and spending. Live on a budget like the rest of us, will you??????

you have absolutely no knowledge of this bankruptcy case so where do you get off judging her?
