11 Questions With Brad Paisley: No. 11

Brad Paisley is sitting on top of the world these days. He recently scored his eighth consecutive No. 1 single with 'Waitin' on a Woman,' and the reigning CMA and ACM Male Vocalist of the Year has four CMA nominations this year. His new album, 'Play,' an instrumental effort that also features vocal duets with Steve Wariner, Buck Owens, B.B. King and Keith Urban, hits the streets November 4. During a recent afternoon off, Brad kicked back at his Tennessee home and answered a few questions for The Boot.

What's your favorite memory from childhood?

Time I spent with my grandpa and my dad fishing in a boat on the Ohio River. I loved those mornings when we'd get up really early in the morning and go out when there was still fog on the river. We'd go out on some tributary. There's nothing like it.

Enclosed are samples of my lyrics. I think it is more appropriately suited for country music. I am sure upon your review and consideration, you will find them worthy of use in any of your upcoming recording hits.

I like most forms of music,(classical, metal, country, etc) and in my opinion, Brad is the greatest guitarist of them all. It is worth the ticket just to watch him play! Plus, he seems so laid back and easy going! If I could meet anyone famous, other than Dale Earnhardt (which obviously can't happen), I would love to go fishing with Brad... bet it would be a blast!!

My husband's favorite song was "Still a Guy" until the end of last August when the song "Waitin on a Woman" came out. My husband was sick and had just had some tests done to find out why he had pain eating. I'd gone out to buy him soft foods and as I pulled in the driveway, the song "Waitin on a Woman" was on, but I shut the car off. He was sitting on the porch waiting for me and said "Honey, you should have listened to the whole song, cause the end is so meaningful". Well, a few days later, we got my husband's diagnosis of terminal cancer and he went in the hospital Sept. 9 and passed away Sept. 19th. Since then, those two songs have been very special to me, and I cry every time I hear "Waitin on a Woman" because I think my hubby knew, and it was his way of telling me he'd be up there on a bench waiting for me, and I should take my time. Now Brad Paisley's songs have taken on very special meaning for me. He's a wonderful artist and you can tell he sings from his heart about things from his own life.

I think it is wonderful how you talk about your father and grndfather. Family is very important and with so many families in controversies these days it is refreshing to hear someone speak lovingly of his family. I, myself am very close to my family, who moved to Greenbrier, Tn. 2 years ago. They love it there and would love to meet a star such as you in person. Your music is great and we are thankful for your entertainment you provide for us. Tell Grandpa thanks for getting you started on the guitar, without him we would not have your music to enjoy. God bless you and your family Brad. Keep up the fine work. We will be coming to Greenbrier this month to visit our kids for the holidays if we could meet you that would be a great inspiration to our grandson who is teaching himself to play the guitar.
