He may be best known for his comedy, but Steve Martin is also an accomplished banjo player. The actor/comedian is making a mostly instrumental album and has recruited some major Nashville talent to help him out. Earl Scruggs, Jerry Douglas, David Amram and Tony Trishka are just a few of the big names who will jam with Martin on the album. Vince Gill will sing on one of the three tracks that include vocals."When Steve first called me, I said, 'Buddy, you've made me laugh for 30-plus years. I'd be honored to sing on your record,'" Gill told the Modesto Bee.
Bluegrass artist Tim O'Brien and country icon Dolly Parton are two other guest vocalists on Martin's album, due for release early next year.
