Best Country Albums of 2008:
No. 1

'Call Me Crazy,' Lee Ann Womack

Standout Song:
'Everything But Quits' (with George Strait)

Considering her last album won the CMA's Album of the Year, there was a great deal of anticipation surrounding this new release, and Womack exceeds expectations. From the hopeful tone of 'I Found It in You' to the aching resignation of 'Either Way,' Womack explores life's most poignant moments in song.

How is it possible that Rascal Flatts didn't make this list? Worse yet, how did Taylor Swift make it over RF? Who's voting? Tweens?

Jamey Johnson deserved to have made it to No. 1 on this list...Leeann Womack is ok...but Jamey Johnson is true country. if you haven't listened to 'That Lonesome Song' you should totally listen to it ASAP it is great! Just like classic country...between Jennings and Jones!

Thank You for recognizing Jamey Johnson. If any of the readers think that he does not belong on this list, then it is obvious they haven't heard him. I was lucky enough to catch him in a New Years eve show in a Daleville Alabama bar. Being an up and coming new artist and nominated for 3 Grammies, he could have bailed on this commitment and he did not! That shows what kind a person he is. George Jones once sang "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes"? I'm glad Jamey stepped up to the challenge!

How is Kenny Chesney not on the list? Just curious. I thought Lucky Old Sun was a good album and I bought Brad Paisley's album but was disappointed with all the guitar solos. I like Paisley's singing.

Sugarland shouldn't even be on the list. Jennifer sounds like a cat with it's tail under a rocking chair. And I like LeeAnn Womack, but what has she done this year? And I haven't even heard one of the songs from Kathy Mattea's album. Who makes up this list? Evidently, it isn't the fans.
