Martina McBride is being honored Saturday with the 2008 Harmony Award during the Nashville Symphony Ball. McBride receives the award for her contribution to the development and appreciation for Nashville's music culture. Recipients are also recognized for their ability to create harmony between the varying styles of music made and heard in Music City.In addition to her chart-topping hits, McBride has also taken on the task of making a statement with many of her songs, such as bringing light to domestic violence in 'Independence Day.' She spreads the word about Nashville through numerous television appearances, most recently on 'Good Morning America' and 'The View.' She will also be featured Friday on NBC's 'Greatest Holiday Moments: Song of the Season Countdown.'
McBride joins the ranks of celebrities including LeAnn Rimes, Trisha Yearwood, Dolly Parton, The Judds, Vince Gill, Amy Grant and Rascal Flatts in receiving the Harmony Award. The event will take place at Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Saturday.
