Mindy McCready Said to Be 'Fine' After Suicide Attempt

Mindy McCready is still in a Nashville hospital after her apparent suicide attempt on Wednesday. But according to her younger brother, she is "recovering just fine."

"Mindy's doing great. She's fine," Josh McCready tells PEOPLE magazine. "She was hospitalized, but she's fine. She's good now."

Josh would not elaborate on what led his sister to harm herself. Paramedics found the troubled singer Wednesday with injuries to her wrists. This is the second time this year McCready has been hospitalized for suicidal behavior. She went to rehab this summer after trying to wash down sleeping pills with vodka.

Just last month, McCready was singing a more optimistic tune, promising her fans that she was planning a big comeback -- both personally and professionally. "Redemption is out there for everybody to get," she told the syndicated TV show 'Inside Edition.' "Just watch me. I'm gonna show you how to do it."

McCready is best known for her hits '10,000 Angels' and 'Guys Do It All the Time,' but she hasn't had a song on the country charts since 2002. She did, however, make national headlines this year after admitting to a decade-long affair with married baseball star Roger Clemens.

Being in the field that has worked with "numerous" suicidal victims, you seem to in the wrong field. You seem uncaring and rude. Obviously you don't understand there is a difference between a "cry for help" and attention. I'm not saying she isn't seeking attention, but maybe she is crying out for help. I can't stand it when people who judge people and haven't walked a step in their shoes! Have you ever been depressed? I mean really, really depressed.........you want to live, but not in that torture. Maybe you need to go back to school and become more than a behavioral aid.

hello mindy i want to wish u well i know what it is like to be in your shoes i lost my younger brother to that back in 2002 i still do not understand why im a single male age 40 im a 4th time uncle three nephews and one neice i love your music mindy im a single male here in massachusetts

Lived that suicide life , was white poor very poor and no color has nothing to do with it and yes sooner or later if no one cares enough to listen you will eventually get the job done. and yes I beleave if you aint lived in suicide shoes then shut the hell up cause you no nothing about what your talking about.

Hey Rick, you seem to know an awful lot about what "homosexuals" like! You know what they say, the one who protests the most is more than likely concerned about his own sexuality. By the way, where is this hookups and breakups segment that made you go on your gay tirade anyway?
