Keith Urban Bio Spans From Kid to Kidman

An unauthorized biography of Keith Urban is due in Australian bookstores next month. 'Fortunate Son: The Unlikely Rise of Keith Urban,' written by Jeff Apter, will cover the Aussie country crooner's childhood through his rise to international superstardom.

"The first biography of this movie-star-handsome country hero tells the unlikely story of how Urban followed and eventually fulfilled his dream of selling country music back to the Americans, the people who created it in the first place," reads the book description on the Random House Australia website.

The book also gives the story of how Urban met wife Nicole Kidman at an event in Los Angeles celebrating Australians.

"On paper they were one odd couple: with his three-day growth, shaggy hair and slight stoop, Urban looked as if he'd just wandered in from the direction of an all-nighter at the Gympie Muster," reads a book excerpt printed in The Sydney Daily Telegraph. "The frail, pale, ice-cool Kidman -- a well-educated, urbane woman raised on Sydney's north shore -- looked so fragile that you feared she might snap at any minute. Meanwhile, Kidman's ex-husband [Tom Cruise] had been jumping up and down on Oprah Winfrey's couch, shouting the name of his new love, Katie Holmes, like a mantra and talking up the 'wonders' of Scientology, all the while taking the air out of his stalled Hollywood career. It was as if Urban and Cruise came from different planets."

The book goes on to detail the "Kurbans" romance and the birth of their daughter, Sunday Rose. It is due in Australian bookstores on January 5, but there's no word yet on a release in the United States.
