Dolly Parton, Charley Pride + More on Patriotic Project

Country music superstars Dolly Parton, Kathy Mattea and Charley Pride are among 56 songwriters and performers who contributed to the three-disc concept album 'This Is My America,' a project detailing more than 500 years of United States history through songs and spoken narrative.

Also featured on the collection -- thought to be one of the most expensive recordings ever assembled in Nashville -- are singers Billy Dean and Bryan White, instrumentalist Mark O'Connor, the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and the Fisk Jubilee Singers. Songwriters contributing their talents to the project include Beth Nielsen Chapman, Jon Vezner, Roxie Dean, Wood Newton, Charlie Black, Rory Bourke and Jim Weatherly.

The album was developed by Canadian producer Douglas Hutton, who says that in spite of the major names involved, the project's biggest star is America herself.

"Portraits of the American experience have been expressed and distributed through film, television, recordings and countless literary works," says Hutton. "But I wanted to tell it in a more inventive way that respects and reflects today's American values. What better way to do that, than through the international language of music?"
