Jake Owen Is Single in the City

It's hard to believe, but in spite of his sex appeal and successful career, Jake Owen is still single. Owen graces the cover of February's Nashville Lifestyles magazine, in the annual issue listing Music City's most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes.

A true romantic at heart, Owen names 'She Believes in Me' by Kenny Rogers as the most romantic song and 'The Thornbirds' as the most romantic book. He describes his ideal woman as "kind, understanding, fun" and reveals what would make the first date the last: "If she couldn't hold a genuine conversation with me."

In spite of all his efforts, the 27-year-old Owen admits he may not have always gotten it right when it comes to dating. "I went to a baseball game with a girl once, and she didn't know anything about baseball," he tells the magazine, recalling the worst date he's ever been on. "She continuously asked me questions throughout the game, and I couldn't enjoy it at all. Not her fault -- I should've asked if she wanted to go to the baseball game in the first place."

His ideal date doesn't have to include one of his favorite activities, such as baseball or canoeing. For Owen, it's the company -- not the activity -- that means the most. "Having a great conversation with someone who you care about. We can be doing anything and be anywhere."

All of you who think he is a jerk, not sexy or whatever are completely wrong! First, of all if you don't like country music why are you even on these pages? Jake Owen is a genuine sweetheart. I've had the pleasure of meeting with him and talking to him and he is amazing & so talented. And DAMN that boy is fine!!!

I must not listen to enough country music to know who this guy is... and I really don't think he is too cute or handsome... actually, I think he isn't good looking at all. Furthermore, he was right about his "worst date"- he should have asked her if she wanted to go to a baseball game or not... and also, a date is to find out more about the PERSON, not to "enjoy a game". Dude, if you want to watch a game to enjoy it, GO BY YOURSELF OR WITH YOUR GUY BUDDIES- don't expect a woman who is on a date to sit there, drink beer, eat a hot dog, and sit silently throughout the whole game only cheering when your team scores a run. Duh.

What makes this guy more eligible than any of the millions of other single men? There are millions of other men out there that are just as eligible, it makes no difference who you are, how much money you have or how famous you are.

I dont see where he's all that sexy. Its a good thing his hair covers up his ears so you notice them as much. There are plenty of guys that are not famous country singers that deserve to be on the cover of a magazine. Who is doing the rating on these people? Can they see?

He sounds a bit selfish and egotistical to me. I hope the girl he took to the baseball game ditched him.

You are correct-I should have elaborated. It was a terrible venue for a first date without talking about it first. At least he admits he was wring-I give him credit for that.

It doesn't specifically say she was asking questions about baseball. It just says she asked questions. She could have been asking him typical first date questions like what do you do for work, taste in music, what sports are you in to?

Well, if that's the case, wouldn't he want the girl to be interested in him, regardless? It's a date! Dates are generally the way most people use to get to know other people and determine if they want to have a relationship.... How are you supposed to figure that out if you don't ask any questions?!?!

Why would you say that? Are you HOPING he is or just JEALOUS?

You're 100% right, Heather, and then he goes on to contradict himself. Poor him, he couldn't enjoy the game at all, because he had to answer questions for the girl who was trying to be interested in the sport, and yet he goes to say that it's not really the activity that matters, it's the company. Yeah, right, unless it's at a sporting event. Then, sit down, shut up, and eat your hot dog. What a jerk.
