Kelly Clarkson, the original 'American Idol,' spent much of last year on tour with Reba McEntire, as well as settling into her new home in Nashville. So the speculation about a future country album from the pop princess was inevitable. But will she add fiddle and steel to her repertoire anytime soon?"I never know what I'm gonna do in the future, but I grew up loving country music. It's one of the things that's been really close to me," Clarkson tells Popeater. "I did a lot of country events, so I think people were thinking I was gonna [record a country album]. But the thing I love about pop music is that you can kind of incorporate any style you want ...There's always gonna be those influences in my music, but I'll probably never just do one thing. I would be bored out of my mind."
So maybe we don't have an entire country album to look forward to from Clarkson, but what about another country collaboration, like her mega-hit duet, 'Because of You' with McEntire? Popeater asked the Texas-born songbird if she'd ever consider singing with country's music's first 'Idol' winner, Carrie Underwood.
"Definitely! She's got a kick-butt voice," Clarkson says of Underwood. "I like Miranda Lambert, too -- I'm a huge fan of hers. I love Carrie, but the thing I dig about Miranda is she's just so feisty. She doesn't care. It's very admirable, and I dig her writing."
Clarkson releases her fourth pop album, 'All I Ever Wanted,' on March 17.

So when the "pop" hits quit coming they always come over to country music and say "Oh, I have always LOVED country music. I grew up with it." *eyeroll*
Just like Alan Jacksons' song "Gone Country".

Oh no!, Here we go again another idol coming into Country.
We already have the whole set, the popular award Winner {Carrie Underwood}, The Loveable Southern underdog one {Kellie Pickler}, The one that despite having talent flies under the radar {Bucky Covington}, and finally the stuck up no talent one {Kristy Lee Cook}. We do NOT need the washed up pop starlet.
I love this, her career goes down in flames after fighting with her manager, her career barely climbs out of the toilet after she latches on to Reba's star.
Now she wants to do country, Kelly I'm sorry but like I said we already have the whole range of Idol success stories. If you are looking for a job go to North Carolina and see if Kellie Pickler's job at the Sonic in Albermarle is available assuming Kristy Lee Cook hasn't taken it.

WOW!! Chill out!! If you knew anything about Kelly Clarkson's music, you would know that everything she puts out is always different.
Her career goes down in flames?? HA!!! That's why her latest single is on the top of the charts and she made history with the biggest jump on the Billboard Hot 100... from number 97 to number 1.
Also, if you knew anything about her you would know that she is a huge Reba fan and considered it an honor to tour with her. AND not to mention that REBA LOVES KELLY AND HER MUSIC, which is why Reba and Kelly recorded Because of You for the duets album even after they had already recorded a song called "A Lot Like You."

kelly is amazing! im glad she has her country influences because she IS amazing. I have been a huge fan of hers for a long time. Carrie underwood and Miranda Lambert are also some of my biggest influences. I agree with Kelly they are absolutly amazing!

Kelly can't sing...all she can do is yell. All her songs sound the same and I just cringe anytime I here her singing...err excuse me, yelling. Anyone can scream but not many can control and create.
Go back to waitressing Kelly, we're sick of your screaming now.
retardsrus0424at 2-09-2009
speak for yourself dumb bitch.
if people were sick of kelly, do you think she would have the #1 song in the country?
i don't think so.
and if you KNEW ANYTHING about voice you would know kelly doesn't scream.
ignorant waste of life.

retardsrus0424: you are way too rude. She may have a number one song or whatever because people like you (sheeple) like whatever the media tells you to like. I know plenty about singing as I am a music and vocal instructor and have been for many years.
You're the ignorant waste of life who can't even think for yourself.
Get a life. There's more than washed up Kelly Clarkson. Her 15 minutes were over years ago.

For starters, it's a helluva lot easier making it in country music than in pop music. There's a lot less competition in country music, and the talent pool isn't quite as deep as it is in pop music. As for Kelly's career being shot, that cracks me up considering she has the #1 song in the country. Wow, ignorance is bliss isn't it? So Kelly had an album that only sold 2 million copies compared to her previous one that sold 12 million copies. I suppose that translates to some people as a failure. Well, only to idiots. You show me any country star that has ever sold 12 million copies of one CD period. Hell, there's not many country stars that sell 2 million of any CD. I've heard Kelly sing country and she does it at least as well or better than anyone in the genre. She has NEVER EVER EVER said that she was crossing over, only that she loves country and may do an album one day with those types of influences. This article is just basically wrong all around.

Satins, your saying IF Kelly does crossover that the talent pool isn't as deep in country as it is in pop, and you think my statement about her career going down briefly was out of ignorance, don't make me laugh.
Kelly would have MAJOR, I repeat MAJOR female competition from Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, and yes even Kristy Lee Cook and to a much, much, much lesser extent Jessica Simpson.
So before you say she would have it easier in Country then Pop, just remember there is more talent in Nashville then people think. Kelly would be wise to battle it out as the good girl in a group of the pop trainwrecks like Britney Spears, Christina, Amy Winehouse, The Pussycat Dolls, and Rihanna.

Now, Now, CCS, I agree with you that Kelly would have major competition in country, it isn't Satins fault He/she/it hasn't listened to a country music radio station within the past few years.
f14dbombcat2006at 2-10-2009
Everybody but especially you Hmb, Chill the F out. it's true what CCS said about her career going down but only briefly, remember she did fight with her manager a couple of years ago and cancelled her ENTIRE tour, not just one or two stops but her ENTIRE TOUR?. Usually when this happens an artist career goes down in flames with the exception of a medical problem. Her Career was only saved by Reba and her duet with Reba brought her on the Country Music Scene , and the fact that people are assuming just because one she did a duet with Reba, and two has a house in Nashville, everybody is jumping saying 'oh my god, oh my god, she is going Country'.
I do agree with CCS that the Music city is bursting to the seams with Idol's either Winners or close winners and that we don't need another.
I will remain neutral on this, but however if she does do Country from that point on I agree with CCS and the first poster on this subject and that she should be considered amongst the ranks of washed up pop stars trying the country waters, like Jessica Simpson, and that no talent white cracker Rapper Kid Rock.
