Dolly Defends Jessica on Weighty Issue

Dolly Parton paid a visit to 'Larry King Live' Wednesday, where the CNN host asked the country icon to weigh in on all the media attention Jessica Simpson is getting for appearing slightly more curvaceous in recent photos.

"People always treat her bad; they always talk bad about her," Parton said. "I've been fat and I've been skinny, and I'm not about to say anything about somebody else's weight, because I know how hard it is when you gain five or six pounds. I don't know how overweight she is -- I have not seen her. But I know that Jessica is a good girl, and she's beautiful to me."

Parton's also certain Simpson will drop the pounds, even if she's happy with her new curves.

"She'll get some weight off just because people won't leave her alone," said Parton. "She'll have to get skinny just to get people to shut the hell up!"

Parton wrote the title track to Simpson's first country album, 'Do You Know.' The two duet on the song, in what both say was a magical recording session.

"I've never been around a person that's any sweeter in my life," Parton says of Simpson.
