Big & Rich's Kenny Alphin (a.k.a. Big Kenny) is set to follow in the footsteps of fellow country stars Tim McGraw and Toby Keith by taking on an acting role in the upcoming 'Free Like Me.' Cinema Blend reports the film will be directed by Ezna Sands, whose previous credits include the 2008 thriller, 'Act of God.' Production Weekly, noting that the film's plot sounds like a something out of a country song, outlines it in their current issue: "After being devastated by a traumatic loss, Cole [presumably to be played by Alphin] flees to a remote Caribbean island to lick his wounds and drink himself into oblivion. There he befriends local with her own traumatic past and realizes in spite of his loss, that he's still a lucky man with much to be thankful for."
Production on 'Free Like Me' will begin in mid-April in Nashville and the Dominican Republic.
This isn't Alphin's first big-screen appearance. In 2008, his documentary, 'Bearing Light: A Journey to Sudan,' debuted at the Nashville Film Festival.
