Garth Brooks Life and Career Explored in New Book

He's the best-selling country artist of all time and is credited with singlehandedly changing the course of country music. Now, a soon-to-be-released biography takes a closer look at Garth Brooks, his family and his unparalleled career.

'The Garth Factor: The Career Behind Country's Big Boom,' hitting store shelves May 28, was authored by noted music journalist Patsi Bale Cox, whose previous published works include co-writing Wynonna Judd's 'Coming Home to Myself,' Tanya Tucker's 'Nickel Dreams' and Loretta Lynn's 'Still Woman Enough.' A former magazine editor, Cox worked with Brooks' label, Capitol Records, during the entertainer's "boom" years.

"I saw what went down from both sides." Cox said in a 2008 interview. "One thing the book will show is that even the biggest superstars have to watch their backs when it comes to contracts, record labels and executives."

Cox has also co-authored books by Ralph Emery, Tony Orlando and former talk show host Jenny Jones.
