Shooter Jennings revisits his past on the new 'Bad Magick: The Best of Shooter Jennings and the .357's,' a greatest hits CD out this week. Jennings gives fans 13 songs from his previous four albums, plus two new cuts on the project. Among the tracks are '4th of July,' featuring George Jones, and 'Slow Train' with the Oak Ridge Boys. Other hits include 'Gone To Carolina,' 'Busted in Baylor County' and 'This Ole Wheel.' The previously unreleased songs are the Hank Williams Jr. classic, 'Living Proof,' and 'Lonesome Blues Live' from Jennings' AOL Music Sessions performance.
The son of country music royalty Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, the singer wrote or co-wrote ten of the featured tunes on the disc. The chosen songs give a good overview of Jennings' rock 'n roll and country background. Born into the country lifestyle, the youngster didn't think it strange to find himself hobnobbing with the likes of Hank Jr., Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson, all of whom stopped by to visit with his mom and dad from time to time.
Jennings lived in Los Angeles for awhile, soaking up the rock movement out west before returning to his country roots a few years later. Fans immediately embraced him, and Jennings found a new home. "I sound like myself," he explains. "I guess that comes from finally doing what I want, even though I'm embracing my heritage, too. That's important in country music."
'Bad Magick: The Best of Shooter Jennings and the .357's,' will be in stores Tuesday on Universal South Records. The following Monday, Jennings will share the television stage with a friend and longtime admirer of both his and his dad's music, Jamey Johnson. The two will be premier their 'CMT Crossroads' show at 10 PM ET on CMT.

I just don't see any talent in Shooter , just living off his daddy's name . Tried to watch him on CMT but he was just awful !!!

This song is a classic country sound. I really enjoyed the song a lot. Shooter needs to come into the limelight more than he is. Good luck in all you do, Shooter. Loved your Dad and love you.

bub? R U Serious? Seriouly, Shooter is his own man and has plently of his own talent. Also, his band has plently of talent besides, just Shooter, and side projects of their own. Please keep listening to all the great songs that Shooter and the band have to offer. Maybe you need to go buy 'Bad Magick' to see what you have been missing. I have all 3 of Shooter's CD and will be buying 'Bad Magick' very soon as well as the new CD later this summer. I have to say 'Electric Rodeo' is my favorite if I had to choose one of them. And to top it off I have met Shooter and the band and they are very fan friendly to me, my husband, and every one that I have seen them around in the 2 times that I have seen them in person.
A SHOOTER FAN FOREVER!!!
