Doug Stone is behind bars in a Bay County, Fla. jail, after being arrested on domestic battery charges. Police responded to a domestic disturbance call early Thursday morning at a Panama City condominium, where they found the 52-year-old country singer on the floor, with his 22-year-old son in a headlock. This happened just one hour after Stone wrecked his car. Police were called to the scene of that incident, as well, but they let Stone go, even though they say he appeared intoxicated. Stone was standing outside the car when police arrived, so they couldn't prove that he was behind the wheel at the time of the accident. They insisted he have the car towed and sent him on his way.
Stone had 15 Top Ten hits in the '90s, including the chart-toppers 'In a Different Light,' 'Why Didn't I Think of That,' 'A Jukebox With a Country Song' and 'Too Busy Being in Love.' He also acted in the Disney movie, 'Gordy.'
This is not Stone's first run-in with the law. He spent six months in jail back in 2005 for failing to pay alimony and child support, and failing to release his financial records.

Oh so this gets no ones attention but everything else will huh? I think this guy should be locked up. Singer or no singer he is no better than any of us and if we did this we would be in jail and would stay there cause we don't have the money he does... so once again our system works NOT

Calm yourself down. He got arrested, just like anyone else. He wrecked a car and got into a fistfight with his full grown son - hardly charges that carry life in prison. More likely, someone will try to get him rehabbed up. For the record, this kind of thing happens in every town in America on an given Friday night. That doesn't make it any more right, but none of those people get locked up for more than the weekend before getting arraigned and cut loose, unless they have a huge record. If you want to whine about celebrities getting away with horific crimes, pick one who is still an actual celebrity. Now, baby rapers like Michael Jackson buying their way free, that is a damn shame...

I totally agree momsangel..why didn`t the cop wait till the tow truck got his car before leaving and lock him up to sober up like they would of done anyone else(that is anyone not famous)even if he wasn`t behind the wheel there is a thing called public drunkness..I hate drunk driving so I think they all need to sweat it out behind bars regardless who they are

In my town, the police can no longer lock people up for public intoxication. The reason is jail overcrowding. This is a trend that has spread to many towns across the country. The police instead may issue them a citation and take them home or make sure that a responsible party "takes custody" of them. Don't blame the police for HIS actions. They are just trying to do there jobs.

Public intoxication is a Class C misdemeanor, and most county jails are so overcrowded that they do not accept Class C'.s..
We just get the name of the Deputy that refused to accept for future CYA purposes.

Well this is no big shocker. We saw him perform years ago and he was drunk as a freakin skunk. He was having drinks on stage and was so sauced that he even laid down on the stage and sang for us. Sounds like Doug got a little special treatment if you ask me.

I am totally shocked. I love Doug Stone. I always thought he was a down to earth family man that could do no wrong. I have seen him a few times in concert, he was fabulous. I am and always will be a huge fan of his, but I do have to say that "if" he was driving under the influence he should have been arrested and put in jail.

Well he came from a good family. His mom god rest her soul used to own a shop here in Warm Springs Georgia, she was a good lady. She died from heart problems. If she was still alive she would not let this happen. Doug get your life back on track, you know your mom would not approve.

Star? Who is he? I've never heard of him.

Ernest Tubb and Johnny Cash were STARS.

I seen Doug Stone perform several years ago and I was never so disappointed in a performer. Doug Stone did not only appear intoxicated to the hilt but he down graded everyone who was there to see him. I lost any and all respect for that performer. I have seen many performers and there is no doubt that he is the most ungreatful, egotistical, arrogant performer and I would not walk across the street to see him perform nor will I ever purchase any of his music or support him ever again.

Ok, this may be a future record song, but for now, let's look at the facts: He wrecks his car while under the influence, as there was no one else around who was driving the car and the police let the suspect go to fight with his son. Doug needs help and fast before someone actually gets hurt. Doug should have spent time in jail as the federal law states all intoxicated persons, whether first, second or more offenses are DUI as most states receive federal funding to control DUI on all streets, highways and public areas. MADD should contact the Country Music officials to get Doug the help he needs and most citizens should not acceptt Country, Pop, Rap or others types of music performers music to show The Record Labels that enough is enough and Music Stars are Like Sports figures. The young people look to them as role models and the Government is looking for ways to deep the youth alive and off alcohol and tobacco products for a reason. Doug's Story is a good example.
Thank you
