Joe Nichols is moving to New York City! Well, at least temporarily. The country crooner has signed on to play the lead role in the Broadway adaptation of 'Pure Country,' based on the 1992 movie starring George Strait. Nichols is excited to play the same character that the country legend played on the big screen."It feels pretty amazing," Nichols tells CMT of his Broadway debut. "He's been a hero of mine since I was a little kid, so to come along behind him on Broadway and do something that people dream their whole lives of doing is pretty amazing."
The show is set to debut early next year, with an exact date to be announced soon. Until then, Nichols is looking to his superstar friends for acting advice.
"I saw Reba on the red carpet at the ACM's this past weekend, and she gave me a few tips," he says. "I can't wait to be a part of that wonderful theater community. And I hope to bring a little country to the big city!"
