Trace Adkins Performing at U.S. Capitol Concert

Trace Adkins has been chosen to close the National Memorial Day Concert on May 24, with a performance of ''Til The Last Shot's Fired.' The event will be telecast live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, beginning at 8:00 PM ET on PBS, and broadcast to troops serving around the world on the American Forces Radio and Television Network.

''Til the Last Shot's Fired' is featured on Adkins' latest album, 'X.' The song's themes of military history and personal sacrifice provide a fitting conclusion to the tribute concert, which is expected to draw a crowd of thousands. Adkins will be accompanied by his band and the National Symphony Orchestra, along with the U.S. Army Chorus, The Soldiers' Chorus of the U.S. Army Field Band, and the U.S. Navy Sea Chanters.

Adkins, who first performed on the concert in 2005, remains a staunch supporter of the U.S. military and has traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan to perform for U.S. military personnel in partnership with the USO. He was honored with the USO Merit Award in 2007.

The National Memorial Day will be co-hosted by actors Gary Sinise ('CSI: NY') and Joe Mantegna ('Criminal Minds'). Among others appearing will be Former U.S. Secretary of State General Colin Powell, film stars Katie Holmes, Laurence Fishburne and Dianne Wiest, and singers Katharine McPhee and Brian Stokes Mitchell.

The U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff -- with color guards from each of the Armed Forces -- are also taking part in the patriotic tribute.
