Although they were aware that having both male and female lead vocals on their songs might confuse those who thought Lady Antebellum would be a girl group, Haywood told USA Today, "That was partly why we thought it was cool."

Of course a "Lady" of the Antebellum period--pre Civil War-- could also be Master's Wife. So there is a bit of a racist element there. Although I don't think the members of the band are racist.
