Who's Got the Right Stuff to Play Dolly Parton?

Reese Witherspoon won an Academy Award for her portrayal the iconic June Carter Cash in 'Walk the Line.' But is the actress equipped to tackle the role of another country music titan?

Nashville Gab reports that Reese is being considered for the lead role in a film based on the life of Dolly Parton. But when asked about the potential casting, a surprised Dolly quipped, "We'd have to get her a big ol' boob job!"

Dolly told the UK's Daily Express that actress Scarlett Johansson might be more naturally endowed to take on the part.

Dolly's currently basking in the success of her Broadway hit '9 to 5.' Earlier this week, she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Original Score for the musical.

Alexis would be perfect! Reese has already been a country queen. It is time to pass the torch! Scarlett is not the right person, besides, does she sing??? I mean can she really pull of the Queen of Tennessee or will she have to lipsync? Alexis has the look, the talent and she is a Tennessean!

Eden Riegel, who plays Bianca on ABC's All My Children, merits consideration. She can sing, although with a Broadway show tune style, and has the requisite physical attributes.

But wouldn't the actress who'll play her have to go to Dolly's hometown and visit the places she grew up to be the "Boob" that she is? What a stupid thing to say, on Dolly's part.

Kellie can sing 9 to 5 better than a lot of ladys and if you saw kellie and Dolly singing it togeather you would agree,Kellie also has the quick wit like Dolly and she loves Dolly as her Idol. To those who kncok Kellie you have seen very little of her to make such comments.Look at her interviews and you will see she is sweet, funny and down to earth.Kellie and Dolly are on U 2bu singing togeather its great

I get so sick and tired of hearing about Dollys' boobs.Yes,she's amply endowed and yes,she is VERY PROUD of them, but is that all she thinks she has going for her?

Christina Arguilara? I have almost every piece of music Dolly ever recorded. I have all her movies and a scrapbook to die for... I have followed Dolly all her career and have seen her three times. The first time I saw her I was amazed at how beautiful she was... her skin is flawless! There are many out there who could play Dolly, but they should choose someone who resembles her to some extent and can sing. Someone mentioned Alexis who was on this years American Idol and she would be great as well. Jessica Simpson? I know she and Dolly recently made a record together but Jessica can't really sing that well. Remember, Dolly has very full lips and Reese doesn't resemble her at all... maybe they can puff them out! LOL

After Hairspray, John Travolta could dress up in Dolly drag and pull this off. (Okay I'm just kidding.) I've loved Dolly since I was a teenager and whoever plays her should be someone that can sing like her without overdubbing, like Sissy Spacek and Beverly Diangelo did in "Coal Miner's Daughter", or Gary Busey did in "The Buddy Holly Story." It definately adds realism to a role like that if they really sing.
