Reba McEntire readily admits she took the title song to her upcoming album from her buddies Brooks & Dunn. But there's no finger-pointing going on. She laughs as she makes that statement to us about 'Keep on Loving You,' so it doesn't seem to be a source of contention!"Brooks & Dunn recorded it, but they were trying to put more uptempo songs on their album," Reba explains to The Boot. "When Ronnie told me that I said, 'Man you missed it, that's a killer song.' He said he liked it too."
Then Reba dropped the bomb on her friend Ronnie Dunn: "I said, 'Let me have it.' He looked at me and said 'What?' I said, 'Why don't you let me have it? I'll record it!"
Once Ronnie realized Reba was serious, he agreed, but she told him to sleep on it to make sure that was what he wanted for the tune. "The next morning I called him," Reba remembers. "And he told me again that I could have it. So I went in and recorded it quick!"
Reba explains that she named her album 'Keep on Loving You' as a tribute to her fans. "I always will love them, they are so good to me. They stayed with me whether it was radio, television, Broadway; they stayed with me and I just keep on loving them."
The first single from the upcoming project is 'Strange' -- Reba's fastest rising single to date. She has just wrapped up filming a video for the song in Nashville.
"I've seen two or three versions of it so far, and I love it," she says of the video. "I hope everyone else likes it, too."
Future singles form 'Keep On Loving You' just may have somewhat of a different sound than Reba's fans are used to. She admits that touring with Kelly Clarkson last year taught her a lot about music and influenced her judgment in some of the songs she recorded for the new project. "When she [Kelly] was doing songs like 'Miss Independent' and her other hits, it was like wow! I had more of an open mind when I listened to songs this time. I seemed to gravitate to sassy women's songs with an attitude."
Reba say she and Kelly wrote together but none of the songs made it onto this album. "I'm gonna hold on to some of them, and we're still working on some of them," she explains. "I think she's gonna put one of them on her album."
Choosing different kinds of songs was a challenge to Reba when it came to her vocal performance in the studio. "When I am attempting to hit what Kelly Clarkson hits, that does take you to a different place!" she says.
'Keep On Loving You' will be in stores on August 18. Reba says she probably will not start touring to support the album until early 2010.

Yes, please take my song and make millions with it. The royalties will be just fine with me.

Reba had a song I heard only one time while I was traveling in the 90's I belive. A song about an elder lady in a nursing home waiting for her family to visit. It was a great song, that made you think of others when they get old. Does anyone recall the name of it? If so please post it on this site.
Thank you for reading and I hope someone will remember the name of it.

The song you are referring to is probably "All dressed up (with no where to go)".

It was from FOR MY BROKEN HEART album, the first she recorded after her band was tragically killed in a place crash. The character's name is "Ruby Wilson."

'Keep on Loving You' as I recall was also the title of an REO Speedwagon hit.
Titles don't mean anything. The important thing is stealing melodies. If you take a Mozart score and adapt it to lyrics you are protected by copywright laws, which state that, if a piece of music is 50 or more years old, it is ripe for re-production. The Beatles took many notes from classical composers, moved them around and it was perfectly legit. Titles are even less significant.
Although it is perfectly legal, what upsets me is covers, especially if the original was only 20 years old. Same with movie remakes. These remakes are never as good as the originals. One movie which will never be re-made is 'Song of the South' because even the original has not been shown in theaters(in many years)or released on video. I'd like to know why.
Lastly, this isn't even news. There are no qualms between Reba and Brooks & Dunn.

I dont really listen to country music. But I LOVE Reba. Me and my son watch her show every night before bed. Something that we both love. I wish they would start it again. I know that really has nothing to do with the story but I think that the title doesnt either.

its isn't considered stealing if they say you can have it. i would say it is more borrowing if anything. over all i think this is a really good article but the title really bothers me.
Hi, Winkieat 8-15-2009
Reba is so great..I can't wait until her CD comes out. I have now got my dad hooked on Reba. It's now on his birthday wish list... I guess I played Reba so much he just got hooked...My brother is now slowing moving to the Country Side and listening to Trace Atkins..Now if I can get my brother hooked on Reba I will be in heaven. I don't plan on giving up till he is singing "FANCY."
Reba when your stolen song becomes #1 you can send Brooks and Dunn some Flowers and Candy and everyone will be happy. Ok, you can throw in a buck or two.
I just bought your "South Pacific" DVD. Even though it was just now a full stage version it was really good and funny. I would have wished you recored "Annie Get Your Gun." DVD's are great when we are not able to see the stage version.
Keep up the great work.
