Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift Lead CMT Award Winners

Brad Paisley has three new trophies on his mantel, leading the pack in CMT Award wins Tuesday night. The country superstar took home Male Video of the Year for 'Waitin' on a Woman,' CMT Performance of the Year for 'Country Boy' (with Alan Jackson, George Strait and Dierks Bentley) and Collaborative Video of the Year for 'Start a Band' with Keith Urban.

Taylor Swift leads the ladies with two CMT wins: Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year for 'Love Story.' The 19-year-old superstar opened the show in a hilarious segment, in which she made a cameo in the 'Star Trek' movie, played with the Tennessee Titans and rapped with T-Pain. History will look back at all this Taylor Swift...Miley Cyrus...Jonas Brothers crap as a real 'Brady Bunch' moment. In fact... throw in another little blond girl with picktails and they could 'be' the Brady Bunch.

Country music comes from the heart. I really didn’t enjoy the Awards much this year. But, I congratulate all the Winners! Country music has changed… and like I said it comes from the heart. Country Music is the style blend of big band, blues, Dixieland, and jazz, among others. Musically, it contributed the drums and Hawaiian Steel Guitar to Country Music. It was a gospel as well as a Saturday night dance type of music which combined the style of jazz and big band swing with the culture of the South. So I say to you all to respect the talented people who were on CMT and congratulate the winners… I don’t see you up there! YOU GO TAYLOR SWITFT! And God Bless you!

who in Nashville and the music industry is Taylor Swift DOING? She is not pretty at all, her facial features are completely out of balance and her eyes look deformed. She has talent but not enough to win all the awards she's winning.
She is "paying her dues" to somebody important.

This is BULL! TAYLOR SWIFT SUCKS! HER AND HER BUBBLE GUM POP/COUNTRY SOUND ANNOYS ME! Miranda Lambert got screwed royally by Taylor Swift. To me she's not even country. She's about as country as Kelly Clarckson/Miley Cyrus. Julianne Hough got screwed also! TAYLOR SWIFT IS OVERATED! She got way to much recognition that night for that one horrible song.

Country Music is more rock & pop now with tinnie bopper music for the kids. Kid Rock? give me a break. I know an independent artist who won ICMA's (International Country Music Association) 2008 "Male Vocalist of The Year Award for Country/Americana and he can't even get record deal because he's 47 years old...Country ain't what it used to be. Check out www.duaneleeproctor.com for real country.

First of all Taylor swift needs to learn how to sing the girl has writing capabilities but Man someone should have unplugged her mic last night while singing with Def Leppard. Not the first time I ever heard her and it just keeps getting worse. Oh yeah not so much of a dancer either and trying to look sexy made her look like even more of an idiot. Everyone kept texting saying how bad she sounds. Do her managers not hear her? I know a lot of other people with way better voices who should have a record deal over her.

Sure country music was good back when, except to much crying in your beer type songs. At least now theres some uptempo to it. Im not saying all artists are good, alot of them are.

I guess I'm just disgusted with it all. I know that times change and we have to change with them, however, I don't believe in compromising my values for anything. What I mean is yesterday's songs would tug at your heart like with "almost persuaded", "faded love", "I've got your picture" etc. You mentioned Up tempo? Listen to "one piece at a time" by Johnny Cash, or "Under the double eagle" by Roy Clark. I guarantee you won't be able to sit still- and you'll be "shhhh'ing" everyone around you! What's wrong with country music today? People like Jessica Simpson. C'mon! She shouldn't even sing in the shower. She's horrible. She couldn't cut it in pop so she went country. She needs to stick to modeling.

I was raised on country music. Daddy hung out at the Ryman Auditorium in the 50's and got to know several of the stars and their spouses. When other babies were put to sleep with lullaby's, I wouldn't calm down unless momma played "my bucket's got a hole in it" by Hank Sr. I cut my teeth on the stuff, and my whole family is in the business. So I can safely say - except for Randy Travis, Carrie Underwood, and the Judds, NOTHING good has come out of Nashville since the 70's! It's been nothing but "gee, I can't make it in rock, so I'll have to go country, and screw it up!" C+W doesn't exist anymore. It's all called "country" ...meaning they just put some tongue curling twang to their lame semi-rock/pop crap, and it's true - all songs today sound the same. I can predict the first 10 notes without ever having heard the song before.

I'm desperately searching for a classic country station that pays homage to the greats - Patsy, Kitty, Loretta, Tammy, the Georges, the Hanks, Jim Reeves, Faron Young, Merle, Roy Clark, Chet Atkins, Johnny, June, the Carter family and the like. THAT'S THE ONLY TRUE COUNTRY!! Today's country makes me ashamed to say that country music is my heritage. I always have to "explain" it now, and commit to the timeline above. It's a shame.
