Smash Mouth Frontman Steve Harwell Goes Country

Hey now, you're a country star?!

We were a little surprised to see Smash Mouth frontman Steve Harwell on the CMT red carpet Tuesday. But it looks like we'll be seeing a lot more of him in Music City. The singer of such catchy pop-rock songs as 'All Star' and 'Walkin' on the Sun' has gone country.

"I have been working on a country record for about a year now," Steve told The Boot before the awards show. "I'm co-writing with people here, jumping on the bandwagon. I just want this so bad. I want to break away. I want a solo career and want to prove to people that I belong and deserve to be here. But you've got to earn respect. So I'm moving here and already love it."

There's no word yet on whether Smash Mouth has officially broken up, but Steve insists he's committed to country.

I think you should really give this a listen. We heard his "country" music at a concert that they were at close to our hometown. Now I am not a country fan by any means but what I heard that night will have me listening to his country album with out a doubt. It was a little rock country and IT WAS IMPRESSIVE!! Wait till you hear his hit single you will know that this is where Steve belongs!!! All im saying is give it a listen when it hits you will not be dissapointed
