Julianne Hough Reveals 'Loose' Past

When Julianne Hough walks on the set of the upcoming remake of 'Footloose,' she will already be very familiar with the role of her character, Arial Moore.

"I played Arial in high school in Park City, Utah, at the same time my brother was playing Ren McCormack on the West End in London," the dancer/singer/actress tells The Boot. "I was a big fan of that movie from the beginning, way before I knew I would audition for it ... It's really cool to have this opportunity."

Julianne will star opposite 'Gossip Girl' actor Chace Crawford, who will portray Ren in the new version of the flick. The remake will supposedly take on a more mature approach than the original feature, which starred Kevin Bacon in the lead role. The original film, about a teenager who moves to a small town where dancing and rock music are prohibited, was released in 1984. It has the distinction of producing one of the biggest-selling soundtracks of its time.

The new 'Footloose' is set to begin filming in March, with an anticipated release in late 2010.

i think all you guys need to calm down. Julianne Hough is great, no bimbo, and will make it interesting if nothing else. If you don't want to see the remake, there's no need to bash on it, just don't go. Get off your high horse, cuz none of you are making movies.

Have we just lost all the talented writers in this country or is the remake of a classic song or movie just the lazy way out. Don't mess with a classic. This to all the Singers, Producers, Actors and Screen writers: Don't try and ride on the backs of the great ones before you. DO YOUR OWN WORK AND IMPRESS US WITH YOUR TALENT NOT THE TALENT OF THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE YOU.......

Dallas, I know what you mean. They had to do a remake of Taking of Pelham 1,2,3, which pissed me off. Now, the same producer (Tony Scott) is apparently doing a remake of "The Warriors." Has he no shame?! There are no bright minds in Hollywood anymore. I'll stick to watching the classics and indie films before I waste my money on remakes.

This first part is directed to the poster who asked why they don't use actual high-school aged stars. There are rules set forth about 'child actors' and they drastically cut down the amount of time they can spend filming, plus they add to the costs by requiring teachers on set.

To compare ages of the woman playing the character, Julianne will be about 22 when it is released, the original Arial, Lori Singer, was 27.

HOWEVER... this being said, I think this remake is a HUGE mistake. Two words for you. New Coke. You just shouldn't mess with a classic.

why with such advance in movie making why are producer or studios trying to continue to do remake of film from 20years ago ,how about follow up with new ideas & plots .now if you really want to do a remake how about something like bladerunner ,especialy with all the cgi stuff around .

Wow. Flash-in-the-Pan Julianne and some guy I've never even heard of for the remake compared to Big Deal At The Time Kevin Bacon. And they want to remake a movie that was HUGE then, and base it on a musical that didn't do so well on Broadway? Yeah, that's a real comparison. I think Julianne's a better dancer than a singer; she should just stick to dancing because without the Auto-Tune and tricks producers use, she's not that strong of a singer.

I am NOT going to waste my hard-earned money on this movie. Sorry. I'm not paying their salaries to support this kind of crap.
