Billy Ray Cyrus Defends His Working Brood


If you think Miley Cyrus -- aka the hottest teenager on the planet -- is the only one of Billy Ray's children who aspires to greatness in the land of entertainment, think again. The Boot wondered how the country star and his wife Tish make Miley's siblings feel special in their fish-bowl existence, with the pressure of measuring up to their insanely famous sister. Billy Ray was quick to point out to us that his other children are doing just fine, thank you very much.

"You've got to keep in mind that my son Trace (20) is in Metro Station, which has a hit album all around the world," Billy Ray explains to The Boot. "He's in Switzerland today as we speak, and got all the way in the last month from Japan to the Philippines across Canada. Metro Station are huge worldwide. Trace is living his dream."

And there very well may be two more members of the Cyrus clan coming soon to a radio station near you.

"Brandi (22), my daughter, has a band called Frank and Derol that's about to get signed to a record deal," Billy Ray proudly reports. "My son Braison (15), he's in a band called Lazy Randy, and he loves rock 'n' roll. He's pretty much obsessed with Nirvana and Kirt Cobain."

But it's Billy Ray and Tish's youngest who seems to be following in her 'Hannah Montana' sister's footsteps.

"My little girl Noah (9) just came back from Los Angeles where her new animation premiered," says Billy Ray of his third daughter. "She's doing the lead voiceover, along with Matt Damon, with this new Disney animation coming out in August called 'Ponyo.' Noah is the voice of Ponyo. It's a pretty special story. Noah was born into my first [TV] series, 'Doc,' so she's been acting her whole life."

Billy Ray insists he has let his kids follow their hearts when it comes to their careers, without any pressure -- or objection -- from him.

"They are all in the business. I wish I could say that Miley is the only one, but all my kids are artistic and love doing artistic things. I just tell all my kids to do what they love and to pursue their dreams – whatever that is. I wish they would all just enjoy sitting down on the farm and riding horses all day. That sounds pretty good to me. That's not their thing right now. Unfortunately, they're too much like their daddy. They love the art of making music. They love acting. That's pretty much the way I've always been so I can't really blame them for that!"

You people make me completely sick. They are talented people. Get over it that you never made it big..who are you people to talk about a family who you THINK you know when you havent the slightest idea! a little piece of advice..dont always beleive what you read! if bringing down other people and theyre families makes you feel better about you and your life..i feel sorry for you. You are entitled to your own opinions..but you dont need to spread it all over the internet. what if somebody was bad mouthing your OWN child and their dreams all over the internet..how would it make you feel! jealousy is an aweful trait to have in life. grow up. and one more thing..for the mom who ripped down your daughters hannah posters and threw out her cds..thats the definition of bad parenting so who are you to talk about billy ray? good luck with you and your daughters relationship in the future.

I think Billy Ray and his wife are doing a good job raising their kids. They allow them to pursue their dreams in whatever field it may be and although some people may think Miley isn't the perfect role model there are other celebrities that are worse than her. It's not like she is doing drugs and getting in trouble with the law, she is a young teenage girl.

umm and I thought billy was the only one without talent til Miley came along and now the rest of the family..NO TALENT...they couldn't carry a tune in a bucket..I haven't heard of any of the suppose to be "bands" he is talking about.. If his is a "perfect " family ..I'm glad mine isn't ...

here is a fun little fact. I was watching a shpw that was talking about idol and the performance that Miley had on the shpw and he said that that was a performance from someone who would not even make it past Hollywood- that tells us how much talent she has

I don't like the cyrus family. I never liked the one hit(ackybreaky heart) dad and even his daughter miley, I ne er liked her. In fact all disney stars I do not like because they give all this hype about them when they really aren't that talented-look at the Jonas brothers. Miley is in no way a role model or down to earth, and Disney should have stuck to the cartton that we all love not this junk that tried to make kids self-centered. I'm a teen and disney isn't even the same from when I was a kid.

I read that he has another son with another woman that he doesn't ever see. If it's true, it's really kind of awful that a guy on the Disney channel that markets himself as such a great dad igonores the one that makes no headlines. Poor kid

This family is an embarrassment to the human race. They represent the worst that humanity has to offer. They are not creators. They are destroyers. Everything they touch in their pathetic, incest-driven lives will wither and die. They should kill themselves now and spare future generations.
