Country singer Ferlin Husky was admitted to the hospital last week for the second time in recent months. According a post on his website, the 83-year-old performer was admitted to Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tenn., on July 2, with an accelerated heart rate. Doctors are treating Husky for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and said he might be battling pneumonia as well. Husky was placed in the hospital's critical care unit, where he underwent tests throughout the weekend. In April, the singer, who's best known for the 1960 pop-country hit 'Wings of a Dove,' was hospitalized in Springfield, Mo. for a week, where he received treatment for pneumonia and congestive heart failure.

Oh, boy. I fell in love with Ferlin back in the '70's when he appeared in Miami. Met him out at Jimmy's in Sweetwater. He drove a white Cadillac with a huge huskey painted on the trunk. I know we're getting older but get better, guy.

Ferlin was one of the greatest country singers of the golden age. His song, "Gone" was a million selling pop cross over classic. He was also known in C/W circles as "Simon Crum" a character he played on the Grand Ole Opry.

He is also known as Ben Colder.

No, Ben Colder was Sheb Wooley's alter ego. Ferlin's alter ego is Simon Crum.

One of the best singers of all time. On the wings of a Dove was one of my favorite all time songs. I use to listen to that as I went to bed at night. He should be in the Hall of Fame. Its a shame more of our great country singers aren't there.

With so many of us feeling he should be in the Hall of Fame, maybe we should write to them and let them know how the public feels.
