Brooks & Dunn Announce Breakup

The most celebrated duo in country music history is calling it quits. Brooks & Dunn have officially announced that they are breaking up.

"After 20 years of making music and riding this trail together, we have
agreed as a duo that it's time call it a day," the musicians report on their official website. "This ride has been everything and more than we could ever have dreamed ... We owe it all to you, the fans. If you hear rumors, don't believe them, it's just time."

Brooks & Dunn concert ticket holders need not fret. The duo still has tour dates scheduled through the fall and are even planning a farewell trek.

"We will release our '#1's and Then Some' [album] on September 8 and come see you all one more time in 2010, with The Last Rodeo Tour (dates to be announced)," they report.

Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn have been writing and performing together since the '80s, making their debut as Brooks & Dunn in 1991. They've released 11 studio albums, with sales of more than 30 million. Their trophy case boasts more than 80 major industry awards, including a whopping 26 Academy of Country Music and 20 Country Music Association awards (the most of any artist in ACM and CMA history), plus two Grammys and many more accolades. Kix and Ronnie are individually celebrated songwriters, as well, with numerous awards for songs they've written separately. There's no word yet on whether the two will pursue solo careers.

They made a very successful career together, and after twenty years, maybe they DO 'should' persue other feilds. They were (and still are) great, one of the very few that I can actually say that about. Whatever they now persue, good luck and God's speed, whatever good happens now, they both earned and deserve it.

This is how country stars breakup. No fuss. No mean words. And no canceling tour dates. The fact that their still planning a finale tour just proves that their not breaking up because they hate eachother.
