More Than 100 Arrested at Kenny Chesney Concert

Police cracked down hard on alcohol offenders at Saturday's New England Country Music Festival in Foxboro, Mass., in an effort to prevent a tragedy similar to what happened at the event last year. More than 300 people were detained and more than 100 were arrested for public drunkenness, underage drinking or other alcohol-related rowdy behavior at the show, which featured Kenny Chesney, Sugarland and Lady Antebellum.

"The binge drinking is pretty significant," Foxboro Police Chief Ed O'Leary said. "Since people have started coming to the gates at [5:00 PM], we've had a rapid increase in the number of people we're taking into custody."

Police were said to have a "zero tolerance" policy at the festival this year. Two women were killed in a car accident after the show last year.

The 2 girls who got killed last year didn't even have tickets for the concert !!! Stupid kids who try to jump on the bandwagon and try to drink when they shouldn't...ruin it for the rest of us. The police only allowed drinking from 1 to 4 that day, but I believe that made things worse because from what I saw people just drank more and at a faster pace. I have been going to see him for years, including the past 5 at Gillette...people need to learn how to pace themselves and have a good time instead of being idiots and ruining it for the rest of us !!!!!!
I feel bad that the 2 girls got killed, but, they should'nt have been there in the first place !!!! Most people stop drinking when they go into the stadium and stay in the parking lot @ 1 to 2 hours after the show. This allows a bit of sobering up before the drive home.

The two girls who got killed last year didn't even have tickets to the concert !!! They just went to party....ruining it for the rest of us now!!!
It didn't do any good, because the police didn't let anyone tailgate until 1pm...so, most people just drank double the amount from 1 until 4.
Stupid kids trying to drink and jump on the Chesney bandwagon ruin it for those of us who have been going for years and can actually control ourselves !!!!

This all happened because some 19 year old girl broke the law twice and got herself killed. She drank under age and she trespassed.

She has only herself to blame for what happened and it isn't fair to blame anyone but her.

i've been to concerts there in the past. they sell alcohol EVERYWHERE. if the police don't want people drinking and acting out - how about if they stop selling alcohol INSIDE the stadium. ROCKET SCIENCE I KNOW!

This is why I havent gone to concerts for years! All the drunken people there have ruined it for everyone else. The po should also crack down on the "tailgaiting" (aka drinking) before the performers even take the stage. I also believe this is why some country stars no longer tour.

the grateful dead did progressive country in the early 1970's with american beauty, workingman's dead, and europe 72 albums. jerry garcia even played the steel guitar. now that's good music and don't knock it until you have listen to it first.

Oh please people... I was at that concert and out of thousands and thousands and thousands of people you can fit into gilette stadium not everyone is a redneck and not everyone is drunk. Its a day for me and my close friends to go, have fun, and sing songs at the top of our lungs. Those 100 people arrested was probably less than .1% of people who were there. They were just stupid and didnt make good choices. So you cant stereotype everyone who was there.

It's called natural selection. I'm personall Agnostic, but the bible teaches that God doesn't play a hand in human decision-making. So why should the rest of us smarter humans try to protect the dumb people of this earth? The faster they die off the faster we can advance our society and leave behind antiquated ideas and technologies. (for instance, the antiques auto-parts lobbying to have antique cars excluded from "Cash-for-Clunkers" program. That was just plain stupid. Now we have cars with 400 times the polluting capability not being traded in b/c some industry wanted to make sure they didn't lose money when it would have been for the better.) Apparently, the people causing mass natural selection want to bring down the entire population with them
=============================================
natural selection, according to you, is allowing the "smarter" people to remain while you get rid of the less smart ones??? and just who is smart enough to make those decisions? i got news for you, pal. you are not at all any smarter than anyone i have ever known. as a matter of fact, i think you are a total idiot with comments such as yours!!!
