Police cracked down hard on alcohol offenders at Saturday's New England Country Music Festival in Foxboro, Mass., in an effort to prevent a tragedy similar to what happened at the event last year. More than 300 people were detained and more than 100 were arrested for public drunkenness, underage drinking or other alcohol-related rowdy behavior at the show, which featured Kenny Chesney, Sugarland and Lady Antebellum. "The binge drinking is pretty significant," Foxboro Police Chief Ed O'Leary said. "Since people have started coming to the gates at [5:00 PM], we've had a rapid increase in the number of people we're taking into custody."
Police were said to have a "zero tolerance" policy at the festival this year. Two women were killed in a car accident after the show last year.

delacourte, if you are going to gripe every time you read a raceist comment. You are going to be doing a lot of griping. Cause it will never go away. To think it will, shows how slow in the head you are. Go listen to some black and mexican comedians on TV. That is what their whole act is. You aren't griping about them. So shut up.

I dont normally reply to these blogs - but I had to jump in on this one. I have had tickets to Kenny Chesney for the past two years. In 07 he was in Michigan on my birthday, in 08 it was right after my birthday (I think), and this year he is here 4 days after. I went both years, in 07 I was able to stay for about 3 or 4 songs after he came on. Last year, I couldn't even make it until he took stage. There were SO MANY completely blasted people there I couldn't stand it anymore and had to leave! I mean stumbling, puking, falling down, blatantly rude drunks! These 'carnival' concerts that start with pre-show parties at 1 or 2 in the afternoon are just TOO MUCH...and I DON'T want to be impartial...BUT most of the falling down puking was being done by people under 25 - maybe even 20. It's too long of a day of drinking - and too much slack to the underage drinkers. I don't have much tolerance for belligerent drunks (happy drunks are fine - as long as they have a D.D!) - so I decided that I should leave before letting one of them set me off and really ruin my night. I hope Michigan has the same 'crack down' this year. I don't have any problem with whooping it up and having a good time - but don't do it at my cost.

Man, you need to sack up if you HAD to leave because people were drunk. Geeze!
baddaughtrat 8-17-2009
Reply to SpiceMonkey - My apologies...I suppose I didn't HAVE to leave. This is why I don't waste my time on these dumb ass posts...because some fool like you always picks what is said apart and twists it around. I was not comfortable being surrounded by people throwing up on their selves at 8:30 at night - especially knowing that there was another two plus hours of concert AND drinking to go and I would get to share the freeway with this same crowd. Oh, and my apologies again, but I don't know what 'SACK UP' means...please provide a definition (if possible)

I agree with you baddaughtr... I dont know where these people on here come from... Im a police officer and we are always the bad guy but good people that want to come out and have a good time cant enjoy themselves because of the idiots. If Kenny Comes to Louisiana we will be sure to crack down for people like you! Cheers

What part of Michigan are you from? Grand Haven here!
baddaughtrat 8-18-2009
To Wiccie.... St Clair Shores area (for now....looking further north!)
To Lance and Twinsie....hope to see you both at a Chesney concert one of these days and buy you a drink!

Not only do I agree with you 150%, but how on earth can the said drunk people enjoy, let alone remember, the concert they paid to go see? I would rather go, maybe have a drink or 2, but I want to be there to see who I paid to see, not be insanely intoxicated and not have a good time. Sheesh!!! And who says there is a recession? I want the extra money these people spent on tickets and alcohol alone!!!!

I'm a cop also . If I dont have to work the concert and can have fun I see nothing wrong with drunk women showing off and taking off. I'll never go to that festival & party ,you can bet your azz.
