Toby Keith is a man of his word. Just ask the McKenna family in Purcell, Okla.Toby met Sgt. Robby McKenna when he was on his seventh USO Tour last April, and the young man asked a special favor of his fellow Oklahoman. He gave Toby a birthday present for his stepmother and asked if the country star would mail the package once he got back to the U.S. The singer promised that he would.
But instead of mailing the gift, Toby decided to deliver it in person. He and a friend, Curt Motley, got on their Harleys and drove to the McKenna's home to make the gift from the young soldier even more special. Sgt. McKenna just happened to phone home while Toby was there, so he got to talk to the singer again, putting the call on speaker phone so that his fellow soldiers could hear.
"It was a remarkable night that we won't forget," the McKennas told their hometown newspaper, the Purcell Register. "We don't know how to express our gratitude for what Toby has done for us, for Robby and his troop ... We wanted to share this story with the readers of our newspaper because we wanted them to know what kind of person Toby Keith is. He's a hard worker. He loves his country. He cares for the soldiers. And he's a man of his word, and we know these things are facts."
Toby is heading back across the ocean this fall, this time to go on what will be his first European tour.

Go Toby. always admired him not only for his bad ass lyrics and songs . also his red blooded american stand up for the USA and it"s defenders attitude. Wish he would go to washington and put a boot in their ass. thanks for keeping the morale up for our troops it has been a long fight for them. I have had 1 nephew over with the marines , a brother inlaw over 3 times , and another nephew leaving in january to go over.

Total Reality,
It is not necessary to agree with Toby on each and every point to respect his honesty and integrity.
There is never any question of where he stands.
Toby is the latest country superstar Oklahoma gets to claim as natives.
Will Rogers and Prima Ballerina Maria Tallchief were huge during my childhood, Pepper Martin, Allie Reynolds, Mickey Mantle and Warren Spahn among baseball's greats.
Reba's daddy, "Big Red" Clark McIntyre was one of a legion of top professional rodeo champs, including the greatest of all time, Jim Shoulders, who was on the RCA circuit with Clark.
There is even a rumor around that Oklahoma has produced one or two decent football players.
Then there was the 20th Century's Greatest Athlete, Jim Thorp.
Those I knew and knew of shared one trait with Toby, honest, straight talk.
Of course, Will Rogers is quoted today, more than 70 years after his death in the plane crash with Wiley Post at Point Barrow, Alaska.
"The people of Oklahoma will vote dry (for legal statewide prohibition], just so long as they can stagger to the polls."
And they did, for another two decades after Will's death, until a new young governor, J. Howard Edmondson "dried Oklahoma" and the people immediately voted wet.

Toby Keith SUCKS. Ever since he fought with the DIXIE CHICKS. I can't stand his singing or his poor attitude, or anything he does. It was none of his business reguarding what they said. The Chicks have a right to their opinion.
s14brownat 8-24-2009
What that singer for the Dixie Chicks did was to get themselves attention. Their popularity was dwindling. They were good in their day, but haven't been the same before she made her stand or since. Sorry, Sharon, but you're in the minority. But you liberal pansies like that don't you? That way, you can always find something to complain about, right?
boliviascsat 8-24-2009
Dixie Chicks are IRRELEVANT. Toby still makes great music and fills the seats. The chicks tried to revive their careers by giving their airhead views on politics. So chickies, how'd that work for you??? ha ha ha! Toby stood up for our troops and the USA!!
Tammy Davisat 8-24-2009
You are some kind of idiot. You don't have to agree with his politics to admire the honesty and integrity with which he lives his life. Besides Toby did not throw the first stone in the Dixie Chick feud, Natalie Moron did.

YOU REALLY ARE A FLAMING ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Janeat 8-24-2009
I think the fact that most radio stations across the country no longer play the Chicks is an indication of who won that fight.

I see members of the Dixie Chicks Whine Club are
still beating the dead horse ! Instead of being
so negative REGARDING Toby why don't you list some
of the positive things that the Dixie Chicks have
been doing with their music and for their communities.
