Willie Nelson Teams With T-Bone Burnett for First Bluegrass Album

Willie Nelson has recorded country, rock, pop, reggae, blues and jazz music. Now, it's bluegrass' turn. The music icon is in Nashville this week, working on his first-ever bluegrass album with legendary producer T-Bone Burnett.

"It'll be an album of old, classic bluegrass," Willie tells The Boot. "T-Bone collected a bunch of songs, like '16 Tons' and 'Satisfied Mind.'"

At age 76, the singer seems to be busier than ever. He has released four albums in the past year, including his second album of Tin Pan Alley standards, 'American Classic.' And it looks like there are at least four more CDs to soon follow.

"There are 32 sides that I did with James Stroud that have yet to come out, and I just finished doing an album with Leon Russell. And in the can, there's the audio and video I did with Wynton Marsalis -- a tribute to Ray Charles," Willie explains. "So there are four or five ready to come out .... well, in the next week!"

Willie is also currently looking at several movie scripts, including a Western that he hopes to shoot soon in Texas.
