The Zac Brown Band rocketed to stardom with their chart-topping single, 'Chicken Fried,' last year. With several recent career milestones, including a platinum-selling album, an ACM award, and four CMA nominations, the guys in the band have definitely left their humble beginnings behind. But they continue to prove that in spite of their successes, their hearts are still in the right place. With a packed touring schedule, including select dates with Kenny Chesney, the band will take time off to perform a benefit in their hometown of Atlanta, for the famous Georgia Theatre in nearby Athens, Ga. The venue was destroyed by fire in June.
Originally a movie theater, it was renovated into a music club where some of the area's hottest acts first gained attention, including R.E.M, Widespread Panic, the B-52s, and Drive-By Truckers.
"My band and many others have come up playing there," says Zac. "That building means far more to us, and the community, than its brick and mortar foundation. We want to make sure that it gets proper funding so we can rebuild it better than it was. It will remain a center for art and music long into the future with everyone's help."
The concert iwill take place at Atlanta's Fox Theatre on Oct, 30. For more information, visit www.zacbrownband.com.
