Kanye West Crashes Taylor Swift's VMA Acceptance Speech

In what was was the first win by a country star in the history of the MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift's 'You Belong With Me' video took home the Moon Man trophy for Best Female Video on Sunday, beating Beyonce's 'Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It),' Lady GaGa's 'Poker Face,' Kelly Clarkson's 'My Life Would Suck Without You,' Katy Perry's 'Hot n Cold' and Pink's 'So What.'. The country superstar's victory apparently did not sit well with rap superstar Kanye West, who stormed the stage and stole the mic from Taylor during her acceptance speech.

"Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time. Of all time!" Kanye declared, as a stunned Taylor looked on, keeping her cool by keeping a big smile on her face. (Watch video of the incident, after the jump.)

This was not Kanye's first temper tantrum at a show -- nor his first time to diss a country star. He stormed out of the 2004 American Music Awards when he lost the Best New Artist Award to Gretchen Wilson, insisting to reporters that he was the best new artist of the year. He also stormed the stage at the 2006 MTV Europe Awards upon losing Video of the Year honors, stealing the microphone from winners Justice and Simian, saying his video deserved to win because "it cost a million dollars and Pamela Anderson was in it."


Taylor only managed to get through about two sentences of her acceptance speech before the Kanye interruption, but was later able to finish her thank yous, thanks to Beyonce. When Beyonce won the night's top award, Video of the Year, she called Taylor to the stage.

"I'd like for Taylor to come out and have her moment," she told the audience.

"Maybe we could try this again?" asked a beaming Taylor, giving Beyonce a big hug and proceeding to give many thanks to her fans, her video director and to her little brother's high school, where the 'You Belong With Me' video was shot.

Kayne should be exempted from all awards period. Maybe a boycott of Kayne material will get a few riots started from Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton

If Rhianna won the award. Kayne West would not of done the same to her as to Taylor Swift.

So, that tells me Kayne West is a racist.

If a white man did that to Beyonce. You better believe racism would be called.

Al Sharpton would of had a major boycott.

I agree with Knightofthesun 100% if Taylor was a black girl he would have never done that. I hope no one ever buys a Kanye West cd again, then the little crybaby will have a reason to cry when he's a broke a$$ nobody because of his arrogance.

Taylor Swift is so sweet,beautiful,kind-hearted,& multi-talented.Kanye is uncouth to diss her like that.It's not first time as a cocky, self-centered A-Hole,outbursts before.He stole her 1st VMA winning moment experience.He wasn't interrupted his previous wins.This is totally not fair to her. Anyone whom makes that sweet innocent girl burst into tears is a L-O-S-E-R. She has nothing but love for all. I am so tired of wantta be rappers trying to steal everyones thunder because they think that using reproduced beats and idiotic lyrics makes them a musician and just the short time Taylors been in she done more musically than than that phony Kanye could ever do. She actually writes music and uses real instruments instead of pushing a button on a keyboard.

Never liked him and always thought had a huge ego without much to back it up. I was so mad (and remember ranting about it to anyone who would listen) when he did that to Gretchen but Gretchen is a tough woman who can take care of herself. Taylor is just a sweet young woman who didn't deserve that. She looked so helpless after that happened; she didn't know what to do. He just messed with not only Country Music's sweetheart nor America's sweetheart but a superstar sweetheart who's loved around the world. Oh well she'll probably write a song about it and capitalize on it! Way to go Taylor!
