Joe Nichols to Perform for the Dalai Lama

Joe Nichols is set to perform his current hit single, 'Believers,' for a very special audience next week. He has been asked to sing at a ceremony honoring the Dalai Lama. The Sept. 23 event will honor His Holiness with the prestigious Freedom Award, which is the highest honor given by the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tenn.

"Performing for the Dalai Lama -- those are words I never imagined coming out of my mouth," Joe says. "This is an honor beyond my expectations. The Dalai Lama's entire being is about peace and harmony, forgiveness and self-discipline. Those are qualities to be admired. I am really looking forward to meeting His Holiness."

Joe will be joined by Grammy-award winner Natalie Cole for the special event. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Dalai Lama's Missing Peace Music and Arts Program.
