Darryl Worley found more than just a song when he recorded 'You Never Know' for his new album -- he found the way back to his baby brother. Darryl says that although he and his brother had stopped speaking and had become estranged from one another for a while, the words of the song helped the brothers reunite."My younger brother and I had gone through a really tough time together," Darryl tells The 9513. "It had to do with our parents and some real personal stuff that was hard. He and I had always been close. We hadn't talked in a long time. When I heard the second verse of the song [written by Jimmy Yeary, Mike McGuire and Billy Ryan], it's like they wrote it just for me and didn't even know it. I remember the closing part of the song was still ringing on my CD player when I picked up the phone and called my brother. I'm thankful to say that we are close again and he's back on the road with me, selling merchandise and just being a brother."
The song was written in part as a tribute to Ralph Ezell, original bass player for country group Shenandoah. Ezell, who played bass on Darryl's early demos in Muscle Shoals, Ala., died of a heart attack in Nov. 2007 at age 54.
