Bucky Covington has played dozens of fairs, the Grand Ole Opry, three U.S. Army Bases in Germany, and Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo. But contractual obligations with American Idol have prevented him from playing a concert in his hometown of Rockingham, N.C.That situation will change on Saturday night (Sept. 26) when the singer headlines a free show in Rockingham's Harrington Square. For Bucky the show will serve as a way of returning the favor to those who supported him during his days as a season five 'Idol' finalist.
"When I was on 'American Idol' the whole town pulled together – all of the business, churches - everyone. They all went above and beyond to help out and show me their support," Bucky recalls. "Now it's my time to give back."
While he's back home, Bucky will also spend time volunteering for Richmond County's BackPack Pals program, which sends weekend meals and snacks home with children who depend on their school's cafeteria as their main food source. Concertgoers are being asked to bring non-perishable food items to help support BackPackPals and Our Daily Bread Christian Food Ministry.
Bucky has just released the second single from his upcoming album - a cover of the chart-topping Nickelback ballad, 'Gotta Be Somebody.'

Does Bucky think people outside of his hometown didn't support him???
Loving your hometown is normal..but to think he got as far as he did without the rest of the country is shallow!

He is not shallow for giving a free concert! Quite the opposite! He does not say that ONLY his hometown got him that far! Did you read the article?? What do you want him to do, gove a free concert to the whole US! You moron!

Sorry if I offended you. My memory of Bucky is he's a great guy with a good heart, and wonderful voice. I wish him well...and NO, I did not think it would be possible to offer the whole world a freebie.
Also, No I didn't read the entire article...guess I should had.
